This sounds like a horror story, it's apparently true:

Apparently spreading by two very scary tactics. First, it spreads by email (specifically MS Outlook). Can infect you even if you don't open the attachment!!!!!!
Secondly, it probes webservers looking for vulnerable MS servers. Cracks any it can find, then somehow forces a download on you. Be careful where you surf!
The rebel outpost and this site are not run using MS products, so it is currently safe from this particular virus.

Thanks Glenn!

I use PC-cillan antivirus software and they already have an "antidote" available. The others proabbly do too.

I downloaded the protection - but fortunately have not "caught" the virus.

I was visiting MSN and I entered a contest in the game zone and clicked on a hyper link and BAM... Nimda is in my cache and McAfee strats shooting up warnings to me.

Crazy people making these viruses. Thank goodness McAfee people keep up on the ball and I update at least daily.

And shame of MS for not making their systems more robust against virus attack.

I seem to recall that when Win 95 first came out, MS claimed it had no virus protection because "it doesn't need it." Well, duh!
