When I finished the test, Prometric gave me a piece of paper which stated that the results will be released within 10 days. When I checked CAS website, it is said that the exam result will be posted by June 30th.

Is there anyone in the forum who took the exam in April or May and received the result within 1o days of the exam? Thanks.

I don't have the paper in front of me, but I believe it says 10 days from the end of the exam window. Not each individual day the exam is given.

I think what they meant is 'within 10 days after the exam window' which will be June 25th. (since the last day of testing window is 6/15)

Just took the exam yesterday . . . the printout says the exam will be graded within 10 days of the end of the exam window. It does not say anything about when the grades will be released (which will be by June 30th according to the CAS).

I'm assuming 10 business days, which makes the by June 30th put out by CAS more likely. I will still be checking every day... lol

We get an email when they are up, no? Or are you checking the CAS or Course website?

Didn't we have to check a box before exam which says to receive your grade by email?

I tried checking AICPCU website, under Student -> Account Services -> Grades, it says "Error Processing Request
There are no grades in the system for you"

Does anyone have the same experience?

I get the same error. I'm guessing that we will receive an email when the grades are available and the grades will appear on the AICPCU website.

yes, we get an email. But I don't trust technology, and I'm assuming that the email will have a lag time, so I'd prefer to refresh the website vs refresh my inbox ;)

Getting Grades for CAS Online Courses

The exams for CAS Online Courses 1 and 2 being given in the April to June 2011 testing window will not be auto-scored. That is, candidates will not receive their grades at the testing center. After completing the exam, candidates will receive a written confirmation that they took the exam. After the testing window has closed, the results will be evaluated and final grades will be released by The Institutes by June 30.

When the final grades are determined, candidates will receive an e-mail from The Institutes stating that their grades are available. Candidates may then log into their account on The Institutes Website (www.TheInstitutes.org) to access their grades. Candidates should go to the Web site and click on the log in bottom in the upper right portion of the screen. On the log in screen, candidates will be able to enter their ID and PIN or follow the prompts to obtain those if they do not know them.

Any idea about auto-grading for the next window (July-September)?

If the transition to CBT is any indication, auto-grading is likely to not be available until the first 2012 window.

Agreed. The rule of thumb for the other CBT exams was at least 3 sittings before instant results.

I'd normally agree, but The Institutes isn't CAS/SOA. I haven't heard anything to back me up on this, but I wouldn't be shocked to see auto-grading before 2012.

But the AICPCU is basically handling the logistics of the administration, CAS is still involved in assessing the effectiveness of the procedure (as I understand it, anyway).

The Institutes sent me an email and when I logged into my account, it posted my grade. I passed, but it feels like a tiny consolation after having failed 5A...

I'd be happy, but today, I found out that I failed exam 5. Bittersweet indeed.

Next to "View Grade Report", you have to click on the drop down list and select the course.

Same here. At least this is better than to just fail 5 without passing anything at all. My mood definitely picked up after I saw the passing grade on this one.

So, seems like with some of the comments I've read and all the 80-89 scores, the Online Courses aren't too bad. How much time did you guys spend on these?

I spent 50 hours studying total and scored in the 80-89% bucket. It took about 30 hours to read through all the online material, and then I did a little review.

How is the material? Do you think I would benefit from writing other exams first then doing this? or is it set up so thar anyone with basic insurance knowledge can read and understand everything?

The bolded is sufficient.

The bolded is sufficient.

You can get away with not studying if you have a decent insurance background for course 1 and course 2 (e.g. you failed old 5, 6, 7 before) ... or maybe studying like 20 hours just to quickly glance at each chapter. course 1 seems much easier than course 2 to fudge without actually studying. it seems lik ethe passing % for each of these exams would be super high.. like 90%+. The question really is how little studying can you get away with.

I think I was 42 hours, with about 32 being the online material (and note taking) and 10 hours of review and the practice exam. Also 80-89%.

So it seems like everyone here has passed lol... and everyone at my company who's written has passed too... I wonder if the next few sittings will be a bit more difficult to lower the pass marks? kind of worried because I'm writing this winter..
