yay I passed. Makes me 1 for 2 on the day. I'd rather have passed my real exam but you can't win them all.
Put in 10-15 hours on this thing. Not quality time. Got 70-79%. I did pass exam 5/6 last year.

woo hoo!! that's 2 for 2 today (although I didn't have much doubt on C2)

Passed. At first I went straight to a place on their site where I knew there was a grade section and could only get to a screen with a line entry for the exam and it says "P" so I assumed that as a Pass. When I click on the line entry I get a fatal exception error, nothing opens, even though it's supposed to open a report window. No results charts with the % score.
Then I read the e-mail more closely and followed the path they give, discovered it's a different section on their site, and now see my report. 80 - 89%.
Like GooseyGoose, I'm 1 for 2 today. Congrats, Chicken_Po_Boy!

Dedicated- I'll bet you you won't be able to take COP in the winter. As I posted in another thread, the ppl who passed 5 will have priority over you, and due to shortened path to ACAS/ only 2 sites for winter, it isn't happening.

Well that'll make me quite mad...but I'm still gonna try! I meet the eligibity requirements now, so theoretically I have the same shot as everyone else to take COP this winter!

Yes, but priority is given to those with 5 REAL exams passed

Passed. So, do we have to submit anything to CAS to show credit (kinda like VEEs) or is this just like the real exams?

I don't believe so, per the "Getting Grades for CAS Online Courses" page on the CAS website:
"Once grades have been released, The Institutes will send them directly to the CAS Office
to be added to the candidates’ admissions records."

Yes, but priority is given to those with 5 REAL exams passed
Just looked at the CAS website, 5 "REAL" exam people get 2 days advance to register...that's fine with me!
ps - 5 "real" exams might get priority, but I've still done a lot of hard work to get through the exams at a fast pace, so be careful when using words that might degrade others when you don't have a clue how much work they've put in...

Passed (80-89%)! Takes some of the sting out of failing 9, I guess!
Is anyone planning on buying one of their "custom frames, with proceeds supporting The Institutes' scholarship efforts" to proudly display their CA2 pass? :-)

Passed! Woo hoo! 90-100%! I knew I put way too much time in for this course, but it was worth it now that I only have 1 more thing to pass to get ACAS! 1 more! Woo hoo!!!

I kinda agree with Kongo on this, I think with only 2 COP this winter, that it will be very difficult for people only with 4 exams to attend. I have 6 exams and 2 modules, so I should get priority, lol.

Last winter the Ft Lauderdale course was available for several weeks after registration opened (and the Las Vegas course closed in about 2 hours !). Not sure how many more applicants we can expect this winter though.

I went through the online materials (typically in less time than they expected), spent a decent hunk of time writing out 'cheat sheets' (which I could scan and post, but you'd probably go blind) and spent 5-6 hours going through my 'cheat sheets' on the day of the exam.
Like I said, I didn't give myself a lot of time. But I have seen this material before. Seems to have worked out okay. :)

Thanks, but I still do not have an idea how many hours I should put in. Someone said just 10-15 hours. Can not believe that even if I have passed old 5 and 6.

I spent about 6-8 hours total, but I have my CPCU and several IIA designations, so this was a refresher for me. If you actually read everything, you can't do that in 15 hours, but if you just skim the course guide and jot down a few things you'll be good to go assuming you have some familiarity from work. If it's really completely new to you I'd say 30-40 hours.

Also - the online content is a waste of time and annoying. Get the text if you feel you really need to see that stuff, but after the first couple sections I got annoyed at having to click on words and abandoned it.

Couldn't agree more. Skim the book and take the quizzes several times (the questions are random, so get a good sampling). Take the practice test. Repeat.

I used the text exclusively . . . like the other member, I can't stand wasting time by clicking through useless e-modules.
I believe that the textbook version has about 800 pages in total. The textbook is exactly the same material as the online module, but without the annoying and unnecessary links that you have to click through. It would have been much better (and cheaper/easier) if they skipped the stupid e-module stuff and just posted a PDF text.
Although the material is very boring to read, it is VERY easy. I read the entire textbook/manual once, without making any notes, and then went through all of the end-of-chapter questions in the e-learning in random order (since it's more challenging to answer questions on something you read a week ago than merely five minutes ago).
In total, I took two weeks to prepare for this (which included reading the textbook, doing the e-learning questions multiple times, and that was it). I scored 80-89%. I don't count hours, but really, it all depends on how fast you can read 800 pages of boring material. I felt quite relaxed preparing for this, and didn't write a single thing down on paper while preparing or even writing the exam for that matter :p Read the material, do the questions, and you should be fine.

Not more than 100 hours, but more than 50 for me. I had also already passed the old Exam 5. It looks like I'm back in the game!

I spent about 14 hours and passed. I didn't think I had a chance the day before the exam, but it turned out the exam was way easier than I'd expect.

This is roughly me too.
Yes the online stuff was a hassle to go through, but it goes fast. I agree with doing the quizzes a couple of times, I thought those questions were of a kind with the exam questions.

My general formula for Institutes exams:
One pass through course notes(not the text) reading the questions and the answers(not trying to answer the questions, just reading the answers...).
Take practice exam
Look up and write down everything you get wrong on the practice test.
Read over what you wrote.
You can knock all that off in the day before the exam.

I'd be surprised if any 4 examers will be able to register this winter.
