Are any of the poker players out there in the general area of southwest CT?

I'm in southeastern NY, about 50-60 minutes from the CT border.

Don't mean to hijack your thread, but it is a pretty general topic you gave it....

I have been getting in the habit of playing two or even 3 single table sit n go tourney's at the same time. Do any of you guys do this? I am starting to be convinced it is hurting my game trying to play that much at the same time. Most of the time I am folding so I can focus on the hand that matters, but every now and again I need to play 2 hands well at the same time, and I usually don't.

PS - I'm Not in CT

Ok, i'll play 2 at the same time. if at stars one is a single one is a double so i don't run into playing extremely short handed at the same time.

Now back to the original question

I've never played 2 tourneys at the same time.

I usually play 2 ring games at once. Pros: helps to keep me from playing marginal hands out of boredom. Cons: 1) you don't learn as much about the tendencies of the other players, 2) sometimes you get involved in 2 big hands at once and can't focus on either properly.

I often play one holdem and one omaha8. If I get 2 good hands, I fold the Omaha unless it's REALLY good, because a good Omaha hand can turn to junk very quickly anyway.

well since there are so few responses i guess there goes the possibility of a superbowl poker tournament party.

I'm fairly close, actually. I'd consider it.

that's it only one or two in the area. Surprising with NYC as close as it is.

Yeah. Since you are in CT, do you go to Mohegan Sun often? Decent poker room? I typically stick to blackjack in real casinos, but I might try a HE room if they have them available.

New to the area. 1st and last time i was at the sun their poker room was closed. I here foxwoods has a poker room though. I think foxwoods will be my next casino trip in ct.

never played in a casino either, want to give it a go. When i went to the sun i knew they had closed the room, and foxwoods was hosting the WPT series of tourneys, each with higher buyins than i cared to wager.

I'm still a little over an hour away from the casinos which is a good thing as i don't really want to visit them too often.

Yeah, I typically only go a couple of times a year myself, and usually it's when I'm on the road (Hull and Niagara Falls, mainly). I forgot all about Foxwoods, I'll have to check it out. Thanks.

I was up at Foxwoods up there in December, and I heard people saying (i'm assuming they were Mohegan Sun regulars) that they shut down their poker room up there in favor of more slot machines.

I'd call ahead before you try there...Foxwoods might be your only option if I am not mistaken....

Yup, correct. The Sun has no poker room. :(

I usually play 4 at a time now and it's been going pretty good this month, but don't have enough stats to be credible yet. I find I concentrate more and make better decisions with more than 1 going, but I'm sure there's stuff I'm missing out on.

The question is, is it the highest EV per tourney your looking for, or the best hourly rate?

PS - I'm not in CT either.

Currently located in CT, 15 mins west of Hartford. Too early to commit to Super Bowl anything, but could be fun.

Only played poker at Foxwoods once a month ago, had an enjoyable (+$88) time at the 1/2 NL game. This is what sparked my recent interest in the weekday MTTs. Hope to return a few times over the next few months since I'm done with online play until after the exam.

Mohegan Sun does not have poker as others have noted. Official reason is more room for slots, but have also heard rumors that some illegal "mob" connections were to blame. I've also heard rumors that the closure was a penalty (which fits "mob" theory) and they might be able to reopen the room in the future once their penalty lapses. Given all the increased popularity and exposure poker gets on tv, they might be very interested in this.
