CEO of Starbucks has suggested to other CEOs that they withhold financial support for politicians, because politicians suck:
“I am asking that all of us forego political contributions until the Congress and the President return to Washington and deliver a fiscally disciplined long-term debt and deficit plan to the American people,” Schultz wrote in an e-mail sent to business leaders that was obtained by Bloomberg News

Does it include donations to PACs that bend the ear and pad the wallet of politicians? If so, good job!

That's a great way to use real leverage with politicians.

Prisoners' Dilemma.
Something like that. Game theory can show pretty easily why no one would bother doing this.

Right. As if the CEOs of Monsanto, ADM, Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Bayer, Citibank, etc, want the US to stop deficit spending.
If Starbucks could figure out a way to get Starbucks coffee inserted as a covered benefit under Medicare, they would change their tune.

The government needs to stop confiscating peoples' money so that individuals will have more cash available for spending on their own preferences, like coffee.
Really, Loner's post should have been the end of the thread, there's nothing else to say.

He is going to learn the same lesson John Mackey did. When you make your money on mindless liberals, don't go saying reasonable things in public.

Don't think he really makes that much from mindless liberals - I think he has a lot more mindless conservative customers, actually, the corporate donkeys love Starbucks.
Unless you were talking about his employees, who maybe skew mindless liberal.
