Has anyone changed their plans for attending upcoming actuarial meetings? Some actuaries at my company have lost their enthusiasm for attending.

My wife has decided not to attend the annual meeting with me based partly on the recent tragedies.

I'm driving, presenting in a panel discussion. My wife is coming -- no change in our plans.

Still going. I need to stay on track for Orlando meeting in 2003. Otherwise, I might be forced to go to a meeting next year. Wife and kids will be very disappointed if I couldn't work this out.

I did the same for Maui a few years back. Didn't take the kids, though.

to JMO fan.

You would probably be safer flying, unless you are really close to your destination city.

I'm planning to attend N'Orleans, assuming that my company lifts its ban on air travel.

I'm flying to the Investment Actuary Symposium in November. Truth is, I don't like flying anyway (even though it is the safest way to travel). Moreso in light of last week's tragedies. But, we can't sit and quiver in fear the rest of our lives.

The CCA meeting is in San Antonio next month. Today, they're reporting that some terrorists were centered in San Antonio and even had tickets for flights this weekend.

It's very scary

I will not let any terrorists change my lifestyle.

San Antonio airport cop: OK, let's form two lines. Actuaries to the left, terrorists to the right.

The attack has left me "homeless"; however, the local actuarial society (ASNY) annual meeting is a few blocks away from my temporary headquarters. Double plus good!

We are planning to drive instead of fly. My wife has told me that she is not ready to fly again. Plus our kids are going with us too, so we will be able to spend some time together as a family. (Even if a lot of it is in the car.)

I just got back from the CCa meeting. The meeting was well attended, but a number of speakers had canceled. In one case, a speaker was delayed by travel problems, but was able to participate by a telephone hookup.
