Seasonal Cycles in Hiring

I've begun to look for a new P&C position in the midwest excluding Chicago. I started in January and have Exams 1-5 with five years of pricing experience.

Things seem to be moving slowly. I'm wondering if I need to broaden my geographical scope or if companies are still simply getting their budgets in order.

It's definitely a year-end reporting & budget issue. I wouldn't be concerned about it at all. 1 month's search is pretty short considering it was January.
