Line of Business OverviewMetLife Actuarial associates understand that their work is not just about calculating numbers. Behind every strategy and action they take are people who will be affected by their decisions. Many of our entry-level Actuarial associates come to us with a degree in actuarial science or finance, others with courses or experience in accounting. This position will provide support for the International Product Development and Pricing functions of International Pricing and Actuarial:
[1] Review significant new products under development and any products with new or complex guarantees e.g. equity or secondary guarantees. Reviews include product design and features, appropriateness of assumptions, accuracy of pricing models and profitability results under STAT, GAAP and EC.
[2] Work with the Product Development area and assist in the setting of Corporate Standards for Product Development and Pricing
[3] Preparation of monthly New Product Reports from International Product Database for distribution to Home Office Valuation Actuaries. Liaise with HO Valuation Actuaries on New Product Issues.
[4] Responsibilities include the proper application of GAAP Classification rules as determined by Technical Accounting Group for all new products.
[5] Assist and manage the annual Baseline Assumption Setting and Review Process. Responsibilities include:
Managing Experience Studies and Assumption Setting Calendars
Review of Proposed Assumptions
Ensuring all final assumptions are appropriately documented.
This position reports directly to the Head of International Pricing, who is responsible for establishing specific objectives and ensuring the existence of an effective operational environment.
Requirements:
• At least 5 years actuarial experience.
• Near-FSA or new-FSA.
• Experience with Product Development or Pricing preferred.
• Strong programming skills; experience with Actuarial Modeling Software (e.g. Prophet) preferred.
• Strong written and oral communication skills
