So, when the Red Sox play at Yankee Stadium, are these the biggest games of the year (except for the inevitible post season)?

Do New Yorkers despise the Red Sox as much as Bostonians hate the Yankees?

Are New Yorkers p*ssed because the Pats won the Super Bowl with their one-day head coach? Like we were when the Jets stole Parcells during Super Bowl week a few years ago.

In Boston, last year, I went to a bar before a Yankees game, and there was a radio station broadcasting a Yankees S*ck party. The whole city knows the Yankees are in town, and the tickets usually sell out immediately after tickets for the season go on sale. Last year, I ordered tickets for Fenway the day tickets went on sale two hours after they went on sale and I got stuck way up in the right field grandstands (these are the worst seats in the park). Does this happen there?

Am I bored at work right now?

I am a Met fan, but I believe the Yankees hate the Sox, but not as much as the other direction, mainly due to who's winning & Babe Ruth.

As for football, I was hoping to see Belichek fail. Not pissed he won though, just not happy either. Personally I think he is better off in a smaller football town. he doesn't have the (or any) personality to handle the NY media. I think we also realize the mess started with us, so it is hard to feel too resentful.

Most Yankees fans are Giants fans and most Mets fans are Jets fans. Just an important piece of information.

Yankee fans also tend to be Republicans, and Mets fans tend to be Democrats.

Having said all that, our new NYC mayor - Republican since 2001 - is a Boston Red Sox fan.

But your new Senator is a life-long Yankees fan.

The Bronx tends to elect lots of Republicans to political offices.

I attended two of the Mets at Red Sox games two years back. On the Friday night, there were a number of fights in the stands. I think this was as much due to the fact that the game started an hour and a half late due to a power outage in the stadium (but not in the neighboring bars) as any malice between fans.

The Saturday game was filled with mainly good natured taunts back and forth. Chants of "Mets suck" and "1986" flew from side to side until some guy walked up the aisle with a Derek Jeter shirt on. Both sides instantly united into "Yankees Suck!".

Hey, I was at that game! I remember being happy about the delay because, otherwise, we would have missed the first 1-2 innings.

I was worried at first, because my folks were with me and my Mom is was decked out head-to-toe in Mets regalia. And we were sitting in the bleachers. Interestingly, there were plenty of other Mets rooters in the section (~25%, it seemed), and nothing bad happened besides a few loud drunks being quickly whisked away by an impressively efficient security staff.

It was fun to hear the two sides come together to give voice to their common interests: "Yang-Kees SUCK! Yang-Kees SUCK!"
