I'm easing my way into MFE and find my political views on "risk free intrest rates" ie. treasuries getting in the way of me absorbing and doing the problems. I was wondering if anyone else had personal/political/work related views that got in way of their ability to learn. I think if I keep at it I'll just accept it.

Haha- I also had the same thought about "risk free" treasuries. Just think of "risk free" rates as the amount other people would demand for money they would definitely get back... most people do have a huge amount of confidence in treasuries, which explains why the stock market went down but people piled into treasuries when US debt was downgraded.

For yourself, think of the amount you would trade for a loaf of bread now vs one in a year...

Hindsight: I should not have let it bother me when the social insurance book listed decreased government employment among the disadvantages of cutting social programs. It was on the exam, and upset me so much I couldn't keep my mind straight for the last hour of the exam. I got a 5.
