View Full Version : UIUC vs Temple vs UConn vs Georgia State
Hi guys,
I applied to following colleges -
-Georgia State
-Temple
-UIUC
-UConn
-Uiowa
-UNL
-Illinois State U
-Columbia
-UNSW (Aus)
-Macquarie (Aus)
Within 12 days of application submission,to my surprise, I received admission from Temple, UNSW, Macquarie
I am confused whether I should go ahead with Temple OR should I wait for UIUC, Uconn and Georgia State ?
I am an international student, so dont have any inclination to any city....just want to get into reputed actuarial uni.
Amongst UIUC, Georgia, Temple and UConn - which one is best in Internships/opportunities/teaching/cost wise? Please advise and rank them in order for me. I know AS colleges cannot be ranked but just need your personal opinion . Tx

Wait for UIUC. Good parties, decent football and basketball programs, CAE, decent biz school, and a large, diverse student body.

Hi --
Temple and UConn have two of the biggest and best act sci programs. If you work hard in either and pass exams you will surely get a job. There are actuarial science specific career fairs every year and classes taking you through exam C. Temple is in a better location -- Philly. UConn is its own college town.
I don't recommend UConn as far as location. Stohrs is dreadfully boring.
Temple I would give a  based on overall location, academics/exam support, and job potential.
as an alum of GSU, i must give it a  although i don't know if any of my old professors are there anymore...I was one of Batten's last pupils. GSU has a great location, sports, and (at least in the past but i dont know about currently) an outstanding academic program/exam support and job potential.
congrats on all your acceptance letters. my best advice is to wait until you hear from other programs before accepting anything. well, don't wait until past any deadlines. :duh:
IMP and gosuruss -> Thank you very much for sharing your opinion. Your responses really helped :toast:
