View Full Version : NL Hold'Em at Foxwoods

Some friends and I are gonna head down to Foxwoods for a NL Hold'em tourney soon. A couple questions...
1. I think this was covered elsewhere, but I can't find the thread. This would be my first "real" in person poker tournament. What do I need to know? I know you can't say "I see this and raise an additional $X", but beyond that it's all pretty foreign to me.
2. Does anyone know when Foxwoods has their tournaments? I'd check here, but foxwoods.com is blocked at my work and I just can't wait 'til I get home (I'm impatient).
I'll let people know when we figure out the day, and you'd all be welcome to come play and say hi (except for Bama Gambler).

They have a limit tourny on sat morning and sun morning is NL. Both fill up fast, so be there before 7:00am (they cap it at 200 people). Both offer no rebuys.
Send me your email over PM and I will forward you a whole bunch of stuff I have from them (including rules, payouts, etc...)

I'm poking around their site (not blocked for me, hehe), not seeing these Sat/Sun morning tournaments, but there do seem to be plenty of week-night tourneys too, depending on how much money you're looking to spend...

Someone here used the magic of the Google cache to get in their site... apparently they've discontinued their weekend tournaments. :( If I go it'll have to be on a Tuesday night... which I would definitely do, but these have rebuys and add-ons, which I hate. But we'll see, we'll see.

Ahh, Google cache, second only to Google image search in usefulness :)

If you want to raise in NL, simply say "raise" (don't say any amount).
For example, say someone bets 400 into you and you want to raise to 2000 (a raise of 1600), just simple say raise then put 2000 in chips out in front of you. If you had said "Raise 2000" they would force you to put 2400 into the pot. NEVER put chips directly into pot (aka. splashing the pot).
If someone bets 400 into you and just want to call and all you have is a 1000 chip, then simply say "call" and put your 1000 chip in front of you.

Don't worry Expunge, apparently when Foxwoods says you can register at 5:00, they mean 3:00, i.e. us getting there at 6:00 only got us an opportunity to stand in line and hope they would open up more spots in the tournament. Oh well, looks like I learned a valuable lesson:
If you want to play poker, you better use study time to do it! :D
I'll be playing the Thursday NLHE event on Sept. 16th, 10am. $100 + 9 buy-in, that's very reasonable. Anyone else who wants to come on down, feel free.
Rock on. :guitarwo:

Great day at Foxwoods for me!!! :)
Busted out in 6th place out of 250 players, cashing for $800.
Tough hand to go out on, six handed, blinds were huge percentage of everyone's stacks, had about 50K (out of 500K at the table). All in in front of me for 53K (basically the last two hours i saw 1 flop every 45 minutes since every hand someone was all-in), called all in with AK, he flips over A7......flop comes 249......turn 7 :shake: no help on the river.
Nonetheless, it was a great day! :D
