I'm looking at the solution and it looks like there is a column for "Extension" which is the adj factor applied to premium. It does not appear as though this is used for deriving the answer, but it appears in solutions for this problem as well as 05-5-49-3. Anyone know why it is there? I understand what it might be used for, but it seems extraneous in these two as the final relativities do not use this info as an input.

"Extension" was a concept used on the old Syllabus material. I wouldn't worry about showing it, but it could be helpful in keeping track of calculations.

i think its just there so that you can calculate the overall impact of the relativity changes on the premium.

That is correct.

So if that is the case it won't be useful for the relativities, it will only be useful for calculating base rate offset. Is that also correct?
