the situation:
in a sng $5 about 20 hands in.
blinds 15/30.
(poker stars 1500 starting chips 8 of 9 are still at the table)
you're in the big blind and get AA.
utg limps in
utg +1 limps.
next 2 fold
limp from the cutoff
button folds
sb limps
(currently 5 way action 150 in the pot)
what is your move?
what if you had KK? AK?

I actually don't like 3xBB here. I might check...
Dunno
But certainly don't muck your cards :D

I'd go all-in, but that's because I'm a big pu$$y and wouldn't want to deal with the post-flop. You're probably looking for advice from people who are better at this.
:duh:

first i think 3x as a standard raise really only applies if your first in or maybe 1 limper.
3x isn't worth squat in this situation, with 5 way action they all if not most call with about anything due to pot + implied odds.
most players around the avg 1500 in chips, even a raise of the pot, to 6x (an addition 150 for all) may not be enough to get heads up.
the problem is all in is probabily overkill at these limits preflop.

I bet 1 to 2 times the pot. 1 times if I'm comfortable playing 3 way action. If not, I bet 2 times the pot and hope for heads up or just a take down.

it's so hard to take down only a pot of 150 with AA though......I know the right play is to probably bet to take it down preflop, but it's hard to not just check and hope to get a little more out of them postflop even though you are running the risk of not having the best hand anymore

I would raise to 450. Same with KK or QQ.

Initially I thought all-in, but I like bama's bet too. I might still go all-in with the hopes that someone thinks I'm bluffing.

As the quote goes. It is better to win a small pot than lose a big one. Definitely wouldn't go all in. Hope for some play, but you need to raise.
