So here's a theory:
1) Obama never got over his father leaving him.
2) Nearly all of Obama's actions and policies can be understood through this lens of abandonment.
3) Since Obama's father represents his black half, Obama has always been ill at ease about not being black enough or close enough to the black community.
I find this better describes Obama's actions and motivations then any political theory I can think of.
