Hi All,
Realizing there are variability of salaries based upon COL, can anyone tell me say if one were to make about $100K how much would be "take home" (after federal, state & city) income taxes for the following cities?
New York City
Boston
Chicago
San Francisco
Los Angeles

From the thread "What is COL"
Read all of the caveats, There are lots of ways to compare, and it depends on what you are spending your money on, so if you are single, you might google on "salary comaprison" to try to find one that's for that, and not for married couples. I am sure there are plenty out there.

Quote: (after federal, state & city) income taxes
To subtract federal: http://www.taxplanet.com/prez/ptrates-2001tables/ptrates-2001tables.html
To back out state: http://www.taxadmin.org/fta/rate/ind_inc.html
City: http://money.cnn.com/2002/01/28/taxes/q_taxfriendly/cities.html adds up state & city tax burdens for $100K salary in a state's largest city, so it excludes SF. Somewhere on http://www.ci.sf.ca.us probably has the SF local tax.
Oh Yeah

I lived in New York City. Lived in the city, single, no dependents, renting. Based on my situation, $100,000 salary would net $59,000.
