I would wonder why i called in the first place.

I should clarify. I would call with that in late position, if it's cheap, but not that early.

I haven't really started playing poker or any sort of betting game until over this winter break. But I'd fold it. After the flop I think he already has you beat and you don't want to be drawing.
(I've only been playing at play money sites and a new site wanted more activity so they had a promotion saying if you're in the top 300 hands you get entered into a real money freeroll. I'm in the tournament which is on Tuesday night, so any advice would be appreciated. I find myself a somewhat tight aggresive player so everyone in a while I hit it hard and am not able to fold when I am beat and lose a big chunk.)

Tight aggresive is the best place to be. Play rarely but make lots of noise when you do. Add in a litttle deception and you can do well.
Of course there are far more experienced players than me on this board, so perhaps the best I can do is "good luck".

A pair of nines is not worth all in. Fold this and live for another hand. If you are being bluffed, so be it. However, he could have flopped a set (his play is consistent with having a low pair given all the callers). Also, he might have a high pair and decided to SP pre-flop to keep eveyone in (not the greatest play, but it sometimes works). I don't think he'd push all in on a straight draw, but if he would, then you'll get youir chips back when he tries a move like that next time.

fold, he got the set or 2 pair. My guess is two pair, since he just limped in. A small pocket pair with a few limpers may have reraised preflop. an overpair should be out with no preflop raise.

I would have folded preflop. But, now that you're in, fold. He probably hit a set. I disagree with FSAme on the two pair, that would have him limping from EP with 97, 92, or 72. 97s is a possibility, but I think a set of 7's or 2's is more likely.

how's the pot size 1200 with 5 callers after the hole cards?
Voter, if I'm in the small blind with 3 callers and no raises, depending on my stack size, i'll limp in with just about anything. Only thing you really have to worry about is the bb raising, but not very likely with 4 previous callers, unless he has a monster.
I think any two pair is a possibility, but you're probably right, a set of 7's or 2s.

He has AA, KK, QQ or a set. Could even have A9.
Doesn't look like a bluff, if it is so be it. You didn't lose much on this hand yet, keep it that way. Fold.
I play quite tight at around 5 players. Just try to stay in and if possible steal a couple (which you tried here, didn't work, fold). Or wait for the monster and take down a little stack. I almost never fight a bigger stack than mine here.

Pot size was 1200 (5 callers at 200 + 8 antes at 25)
FWIW...
I was the small blind and limped in taking the 12:1 pot odds with 96.
Based on the play of the table i was fairly sure no one had hit a set so i reraised all in to try to take the now 1600 down. Much to my surprise i got a call, and the biggest surprise was that he called with 9To. If someone had made a set oh well bad timing. But i still can't understand how i got called in this situation.
Oh well it was a cheap tournament, and it was in mid stages and i thought it was time to make a move. Well i got moved at least. Guess i just got learn to not bluff ever in these tournaments cause they make terrible weak calls.
BTW i would not have limped in with 9T from his position.

See, limping in from the small blind with just about anything can work out for you sometimes...
granted the call after the flop was a little risky, but had 8 outs.
His call after the turn was idiotic.

You're correct, I read it too fast and thought it was UTG+1 who raised.

I saw something similar to this tonight. (You are BB)
SB has about 10xBB
BB has about 20xBB
Pre-flop: Everyone folds to SB who calls. BB who has A9s gives a standard 3xBB raise and SB calls.
Flop [A,8,6] rainbow: SB checks, BB raises 3xBB, SB raises all-in.
What do you do?

Your getting over 5:1 that's an easy call. The problem in this hand is the 3xBB bet on the flop. The pot is already 8xBB, why bet 3xBB into a player that only has 6xBB? Bet him all-in on the flop and save yourself the decision.

Didn't notice SB's stack size from the original post. Not much of a reraise left. I guess I would call that.
