Gtech over BC - Gtech is a top ACC team (which was a surprise this year), BC is a mediocre Big East team (now they are a mediocre ACC team). Gtech was the better seed.

Duke over Seton Hall - ACC's top vs. Big East's last in. No contest here.

Cuse over Maryland - Big East's 3rd best (at best) versis ACC tourni champion. Cuse beats a better seed.

UCONN over Duke - Both teanms are the class of their conference. Duke was ranked higher, but UCONN upsets.

Tonight the final nail goes into the coffin for the ACC. Big East prodices back to back champions.

Let's go for three ...... SU in 2005.

Christian Laettner won two championships, three championship appearances, and four final fours. With incredible talent since then Duke wins once more. Laettner may not be a great NBA player but he was the BEST college player, largely for being a complete jerk. Yes.

Yes and the Boston Red Sox (and Cubs) where the dominant baseball team(s) in the late 1800's and early 1900's. So what, that era is over.

The Big East is the current strongest conference, and they will be getting even better.

Alcindor, Walton, Ewing, and Olajuwon were all better collegiate big men than Laettner (Ewing and Akeem had fewer titles because they had to compete against each other and against Jordan). None of them had Grant Hill playing with them either.

With all of that talent (and hype), it's pretty sad that they've only managed to win once more in the past 12 or so years.

Hakeem and Drexler lost to NC State, a bunch of nobodies. Ewing beat Hakeem in college.

Hurley and Grant couldn't get out of the second round versus Kidd.

And so what's your point? They were both better than Laettner.

They may have been more talented, but nobody was better than Laettner in terms of results.

And the list of "collegiate big men" that are/were better than Laettner doesn't stop there either. Just to name 2, Mourning and Shaq were taken ahead of Laetnner in the 1992 NBA Draft.

Best college player for a single year... Danny Manning.

That was an amazing year.

John Wallace took SU to the finals against Kentucky with no support from his team. Then he tanked in the pros.

That was supposed to be a lost year as Poetry in Moten graduated the year before and the earlier probation. As long as Johnny was in that game, it seemed like Syracuse would keep matching the runs of the eight professional players of Kentucky. This game is my example of why officiating style is a major determination of outcomes. The calls went both ways and were very VERY nitpicky. As Kentucky had a deep bench, it didn't hurt them. When Wallace fouled out, the game was essentially over.

They may have been more talented, but nobody was better than Laettner in terms of results.

Alcindor not only won three national championships, but was voted the tournament most outstanding player all three times. It seems to me as though that is better than winning two titles and being in the final four 4 times as Laettner did.

UCLA then won the next four years, whereas Duke has only won once since. Speaks to the program and not the player.

Worst college coach ever... Roy Williams.

What? Are you crazy? His last two years at Kansas, he had his team in the final four. He has the highest winning percentage among active coaches. He had to teach his players at UNC how to win again and they openly stated that they didn't buy into what he was saying right away.

State your case.
