my MO is 3 SnG's at once. It works well when you can actually win an all-in. However this has not been the case lately so i'm getting crushed. I'm starting to think that these SnG's have much more variance than a ring game. So i might be switching to ring games.

As for the multi table tourney, I made a mistake in the middle that someone capitalized on by betting all in, i don't think he had it but he still may have had me beat. so i had to let a fair number of chips go then. I got a couple decent breaks to get back close to average. Then it seemed like every 2-3 rounds i got moved. By the time i established a tight image it was too late to use it. Then i had to reestablish a tight image once again. Combine this with not getting G1 cards during this period, and having a raise in front of you on when you get G2-G3 cards and the blinds eat away at you.

Yes he didn't make a proper steal. He needs to realize at this point that if i have a hand i'm coming back over the top of him regardless. Needs to come in for 600, and with this trash fold to my reraise of 775. He trapped himself into calling due to the remaining pot odds, and pokerstars rewarded him for it.

Ring game?

SnG = tournament, everyone pays X to get in and starts with Y chips, you play until only one person has chips remaining.

Ring game, means you bring an amount of your choosing (there are mins and sometimes maxes) of real dollars to the table, you can get up at any time and take whatever real money you have in front of you.

This situation happens alot.... I was thinking maybe if you just told them your hand before they called maybe they would fold. I really want to do this sometimes but never have actually done it. I'm guessing its against the rules for you to do this, but I just hate knowing I can be outdrawn by these fish with the best hand at the moment.

I'm torn as to whether this should be considered a bad beat or whether I should have played this differently. Either way, it stung hard. I had bottom 2 pair and the other guy had top 2 pair.

The only thing I see that I did wrong was not betting harder after the flop (with the flush draw out there) - but it wouldn't have mattered in this case.

He hit you with a large check raise after the turn AFTER CLEENER already called you for 75. I would put him on a Queen high 2pr.

His slow play there was dangerous for him but it paid off in this instance. I see guys do this once in a while only to have a 5 or a diamond show up on the turn and THEN they run into a buzz saw because they don't want to lay down their nice 2pr flop. lol.

I love it when things like that happen for me (although with my recent luck, I'd have a better chance of being struck by lightning). If I were your opponent, however, that beat would drive me to drink (even more so). If I were him, I'd offer the chop too, because it's hard to win after that type of beat.

How do you get to 2.3%? The link took me to the AA vs AK hand. Prior to the flop AK has about an 8% chance to win. After the flop, where the rest of the money went in, he caught a king so he's drawing to two outs, or about 9%.

Not exactly bad beats - just an unfortunate string of strong 2nd best hands - last night on Party, I was clearing a bonus at two .5-1 limit tables. Over 45 minutes I hit 4 sets on the flop and 3 of those times lost to a higher set. The one where it held up, I made quads on the river, but there was very little action. In his book, Lee Jones says something about if you lose with a set and don't lose a lot of money, you didn't play it right. Well, if that's the measure, then I certainly played them right (actually, I slowed down when reraised on the turn, but I still lost plenty).

edit - ok, I thought about this one some more, and probably should have folded this. Problem is, this guy was playing pretty loose and making bad calls, getting lucky on the river earlier, so I thought he might have something like Ax, instead of the AK or AQ that would have beaten me. His tiny bet after the A on the turn made me think he didn't have the AA or KK. Anyway, bummer of a way to go out of a tourney.

Had to post this one....playing a live 4/8 HoldEm game... dealt 66 in middle position, I limp, 3 other callers, BB checks.

I decide to find out if I'm beat (of course the 4th 5 would slowplay me here) - but I bet out. The guy on my left calls, and let me say that I knew from playing here about 40 minutes already, that this guy is such a fish that other fish are calling him a fish, so I'm not terribly concerned, although, I figure him for two overs. I bet out, thinking if he had two face cards, I win - Of course he raises - so I think about it, and decide that he could be playing anything, and if he does happen to have the 5 or 9, I will pay it off, so I call.

IMO, that is a bad beat. The guy caught a two runner to beat out your bottom two pair. You played the hand correctly, but got screwed on the turn and river.

My first post to the bad beat section.

It is nearly 20 hours PBB (post bad beat) and I'm still on tilt.

600 person $20 multi yesterday afternoon. First prize = $3,000. I'm playing real good poker and making good decisions, playing short stacked. So I've built up my stack to about the average with 120 people left (roughly 6000 chips). I get KK in the small blind. Pretty tight table that doesn't slow play very often. The previous hand three people had called and the big blind chip leader had raised big to have everyone fold. So everyone folds to me. I'm thinking that I have 750 chips on the table (UTG, BB and mine). Not a bad take when you have 6000. I don't want to give the guy the opportunity to call and flop an ace and put me on a decision, but I wouldn't mind taking more money from him either. So I decide to semi bluff the chip buy and bet 2,500 on a 300 BB. That bet was about 35-40% of the guys stack. I figured he would either fold or raise me all in.

I was right, he raises me all in. I call and turn over my pair of Kings. He turns over.......QQ. About $13,000 chips at stake. Also at stake is the chip lead with only 120 players remaining. I could have blinded into the final table or played boss and furthered my advantage. Of course the flop shows one of the two remaining queens in the deck and no king. I'm sent home packing. 81% favorite.

I did all that - for 1 hand (where there was no flop) :D - "yourself" is not listening to "myself" at that point.

Myself is screaming "don't do it", "you can wait", "you got chips enough for a while", "a chip and a chair", "you're beat","FOLD" - but yourself has control of the I-don't care-if-I-puke-on-my-shoes-all-in-clicker-finger. Yourself hears myself's words of urgency but doesn't understand them- knows it is doing something bad but can't figure out what it is - like a puppy wandering into the busy street while the owner yells frantically - screeech...............SPLAT!

I played a SnG last night.......pocket aces came out to the table 5 times (that people showed). It was called each time and only held up twice.

1. 88 vs. AA......8 on the flop
2. J10d vs. AA......flop was all diamonds
3. AA vs. KJ......flop was Kxx.....river J

Down to four people and I'm the low stack, all in with 10 10.......second lowest stack calls me with 33 (not sure what he was thinking with that hand, let the big boys take me out so he can get into the money).....3 on the flop :swear:

I've had decent luck in the turbos. nothing crazy (it's still me playing, so luck might be the operative word), but I find I can get ahead fairly early, and then the blinds going up so fast forces the weaker players to make some rash decisions.
