WTF,
What was the old time for Course 6? 8:30 to 11:30 then 1 - 3?
Now it's 8:30 to 11:45 then 1:30 to 3:40 ( i think)
The exam better not be longer....

That truly sucks. Totally messes up my train plans. If I drive, it puts me right in traffic on a Friday night.
Anyone asked the SOA about this, whether the amount of time to take the exam has increased? Or will it be a three hour-period within the posted time frame, and a two-hour period within the posted afternoon time frame?
I'd be happy if they started these things on time, instead of waiting for all the other slaves. It's supposed to be important, so add a half-hour cushion.

Does anybody remember the survey SOA asked last year about whether or not we think it would be good to allow for time to read through the exam but not write anything?
I'm wondering they decided to incorporate some reading time into the exam and that is why it changed.
Anybody know for sure?

Read this. See what you find. Instruction Number 16 to be specific.
Could they tell us what the answers are too, since they're going to control an extra 25 minutes of our time? Can I have a pizza delivered on OUR time?
(Continuing rant)
And again, you have two weeks to determine defective questions, but the questions will be available on the internet around June 7. And don't take any information about the exam out of the room.
While it did release exams quickly in November, I'm afraid that this official announcement of a date can keep them from determining defective q's in a timely manner.

Great. 15 minutes in the morning and 10 minutes in the afternoon should be just enough time to read through the questions, run to the bathroom to hurl, and get back in time to "begin work".
I think this will do me more harm than good.

I hear next year, there will be a required, "Stop writing and soothe your hand cramps" for a minute on the hour.
And halfway through the morning session, there will be a required, "Stop writing and eat the snack you brought with you, per instruction #154.b. If you don't have a snack, too bad. Just sit with your exam closed and look at the proctor, until the rest are finished with their snack."

Do you think we could get nap time somewhere in there too?

Ahh, nap time. That brings back memories.

Yuck!
It will certainly go like this at some centers: Proctor goofs around, and exam starts at 9:00 vs 8:30, finishes at 12:15. Requests students to return by 1:00 to try to make up lost time. Goofs again on the afternoon (forgot to request that all material is taken out of the room and students be checked in). His assistant forgot to mark assigned seats on candidate cards, too. And someone messed the clock up. Exhausted students read thru at 2:15, begin work at 2:25. Exhausted students finally leave TIAA CREF building at 4:30.

This is how it will go down at my center.
The morning will be as per Chucky's post.
However, at the end of the morning session, the proctor will take a vote of who wants to take the full 1.5 hour break (or whatever it is) or who wants to start on time.
The majority will vote to start on time so they can be done at 3:30. And I'll be the minority...................
This is such BS.
Although, I really do like the snack idea. and the nap too. But you'd have to buy the SOA approved snacks for 200% markup.
