Here is the chess position of the week... ( )

It is really a difficult one, much harder than the puzzles on here recently. Post your suggestions for White's next move and the likely sequence.. it's not obvious what the correct line of play is. I have picked this example for two reasons... first it is VERY difficult for computers to find the most likely sequence (Fritz 8 anyway..which is interesting), and second the solution given in the source I took it from misses (in my opinion) a saving continuation... heve fun!!

White to play and....

Good luck! I will post "the solution" shortly.

Qxh7+ followed by Ne5 and the rook checking on the edge, or is it the other way 'round with Ne5 first then Qxh7+ and the rook comes over?? This is by no means an attempt at a complete solution.?

I am truly underwhelmed by the response! I know it's a difficult one but c'mon...

anyway... the start of the sequence (and what was actually played) is 1 Nb5!..... if you want to know the rest post possible replies and I will follow up.

I don't see the diagram on my computer, so I have nothing to solve.

Thanks to RSF for guiding me on posting images from the net...

Now for the juicy bit...

The position given is taken from a game played in 1991 between US Grand Master Alex Sherzer playing White and someone called Collier as Black. That's not the interesting bit. What is interesting is what happened to Sherzer when he went to vist Mobile, Alabama recently in search of a date...

He went into a bar, told a woman "I have an interesting position to show you" and got slapped?

Well, I'm no grand master, but I do believe I'd attack with my pawn.

:bump:

I'm not any good at chess either, but I do think the pawn should attack. After that, I am clueless. I'm eagerly awaiting the subsequent moves.
