I live in Indiana and am a casual Pacers' fan. The press coverage around here of yesterday's suspensions has been very harsh of Stu Jackson, saying the Reggie might as well have swung back at Kobe since he got the same punishment without even swinging back. I tend to agree, but I'm looking for an opinion outside of IN or CA. Is this decision as ridiculous as it looks from here?

It was ridiculous. It's obvious there's a double standard. I bet the front office argued that Miller incited it, but come on, Miller is famous for being the biggest trash talker in the game. Kobe threw a punch, and Miller could have either punched back, ran away (and face being labled as a sissy by all the players) or charge Kobe preventing Kobe from throwing another punch. Miller did the obvious, but still gets suspended. What is this going to tell players? You might as well retaliate rather than trying to stop the fight.

I like the message it sends to the other players - if Kobe swings at you, you're getting suspended, so the best advice is to make sure that when his slap on the wrist is over, he's still on the injured list!
