Anyone here like to get into trash talking at the poker tables? I personally don't get involved myself, but I like when others mix it up. It usually results in some loose play, which gets rid of some of the players in early rounds.

I always find it humorous. I usually don't get into it, unless I feel like it will be to my advantage. I try never to criticize someone's play and usually apologize for a suck out. Not sure why the latter, but I feel like it gives me an advantage for stealing pots later. Any thoughts?

I just love when people start talking smack on line especially boasting about how they've got all the chips. Guaranteed that he's going to start playing loosely. 100% of the time they end up out of the money. I don't get involved typically, I just let them chat away. Anything to distract them works in my favor.

I was watching a friend play one night and was chatting with him and some other guy who was the chip leader at the time was just being downright rude to everyone at the table.... swearing, calling names etc.

So I sent an email to PokerStars saying I was offended and they disabled his chat. You could tell when it happened because it got awfully quiet and he went on full tilt.

The funniest line ever and it worked perfectly, went like this at the start of a SnG.

Beachguy: Hi all, gl
Bluffer259: GL and have fun
trainspotter: SUCK ME

Trainspotter totally threw these guys off and never said another word. Seriously, they cried about it for 5 minutes. I think he did it and then turned off chat. it was hilarious.

I've turned one guy in for chat and came REAL close with another two or so....but none of it was directed at me. One guy was talking neo-nazi stuff and the others were sad sacks that just lost it and were screaming about killing someones family members etc.

This was all at play money tables too. :shake:

I've mocked a person before, but that because he was telling us that hitting on a 4 to a flush flop was like an 80% chance.

One of my goals is to chat less. But some people just get to me. (Although lately I always play 2 tables at once and this helps)

I do admonish people who make fun of anothers bad play. Usually after the weak player is gone. I'll get pretty heated on those.

Yeah I do that to. :shake:

My pet peeve is when a player saves another person by betting the flop with nothing.

one guy has maybe 3/4's the bb and calls all in, im in the sb and call the bb with K9o to double the chances we knock this guy out. bb checks and flop comes KJ8. I check BB bets i fold he reveals AT vs the allin of AQ, to make matters worse the river hits my 9 which would have sent this guy packing. Instead this guy saved the other player, while picking up the equivalent of a SB.

I find with the more drinks I have the more I chat.

Here's a story from my Vegas trip. I sat down at a table right in the middle of a mess. There was one guy there doing lots of trash talking, and the rest of the table hating him. He also had a huge stack, and I gathered later had done quite well.
The second hand I was there he and one other were in the hand with me, and the third guy was all-in. I won the hand, and guy 3 got up and walked over to trash-talking guy and I thought they were going to throw down right there in the casino. After several loud obscenties and offers of allowing sexual favors, guy 3 left. The lady next to me kept begging trash talker to calm down, get his testosterone in check as she put it, but he kept on with the name calling, etc. He had a name for everyone, and they were none too flattering. He started on me with the name calling and trying to get me upset, but I was able to pretty much ignore him. After I had taken about half of his stack, he really started in on me. A hand or two later he bet huge and I folded a decent hand, not great. I think he had a monster. After I folded, he said "I hate winning hands with nothing", and I replied, "Yeah, me too, that's why I folded". He then asked to move to another table, and I was a hero of the 5 or 6 remaining players there.

I can't understand letting guys get to you at a table, but then I wasn't drinking either.

I usually feel that at the table anything you say can and wil be used against you - so I usually tone it down. In real life games, however - I'm a big pain in the ass.

I report them everytime, and then pester them until they leave. It usually gets the whole table involved. Only problem is with Party, you can be legitimately disconnected. If it happens to me, I leave the table to avoid the ridicule myself.

It has happened twice tonight - both obvious cheats. one guy claimed he didn't know what we were talking about. The other guy just fought back and called us all pricks.

In the first situation, it was down to three and I was heads up against the guy. I made a bet where he had to fold and I knew it. I was only on a draw, but i played it perfectly and had him read perfect. after my raise he disconnected and won with bottom pair. GRRRRR. I ended up third and he won.

The other guy bet 200 and two people after him went all in. he disconnected and lost with Q9 or something stupid.

I told him i hope the 10 dollars he might win by cheating made up for his sad life and that I was sure he had no friends.

Then I reported him.

I am thinking I am wasting too much energy on these people.

what's your poker id?

anyways if you're at party you're wasting your time
if you're at stars they will get these guys banned. They might give 1 warning, but if it happened a second time, they'd be gone.
