I almost smelled success at the $5 multi on Stars last night. About 900 people entered and I finished 145 - my highest multi finish yet. I was about 24th in chips when.....

Now I guess I could have folded when I was raised all-in, but that CUTTINGEDGEN was catching all kinds of cards and I really thought I had her.

The hand that probably killed me was this one - I probably shouldnt have played it or just went all-in from the get-go - this also has the funniest chat going on.

Its hard to lay down AKs pre-flop.

I think if he had a pair like 88-JJ, he would have called you and waited for the flop. His re-raise speaks to a large pair. Still, hard to lay down.

Bama, Expunge, Freeman, etc, what would you do?

I think this has been said on here before, not sure though: AK is a good hand to go all in with preflop because you have 2 ways to win the pot (immediately or a good chance to outdraw the caller), but it's not a good hand to call a strong all in with, only one way to win (and as good as this hand is, it still needs some help against a strong all in bet, which usually means high PP.

Also, you have to ask yourself the question: Is it time in the tourney for me to flip that coin?

If so, you better call it right, heads or tails :D

Depends on the opponent, but for a player to raise and then re-raise, that's a strong signal. Most likely you are up against a pocket pair. But given that you will still have over 3000 if you lose I think I have to take that coin flip.

Call me a wimp, but I'm laying that hand down without too much thought. You're certainly on a coin flip, and you've lost one of the big reasons to raise. Not enough going for it to compromise the stack further.

On the 2nd hand, what's up with raising UTG+2 on Axs? I guess it was getting late, but not that late.

Nit pick. On the first hand i think you overraised, I would raise 800 to 1200. , this would save you 300 extra chips, If he comes back over the top of you for all i think you need to lay it down. For someone to raise and reraise they have a strong hand. At best you're going to chop the pot if he;s agrressive and betting with AK. Otherwise i think you're a dog, in a good case scenario he's got TT - QQ in which case some of your straight possiblities are gone. But there is a substantial chance he has AA or KK.

I think my rule here would be that after i raise to 1200, if he can and does come over the top for 2400 more i think the best play is to lay the hand down. (Actually laying it down is another story)

Second hand your less than 6x the BB. This is without a question all-in or nothing territory if you're not in a blind.

Anyone enjoy the comments on the second hand?

I was getting ante'd to death with what seemed like 20 hands before I got one to play.

I usually view myself as in danger when I have less than 10 Big Blind bets - so I figured if I am going to have any shot, I need to gamble - tilted.

If you're talking about the final hand all the more reason to push all-in if you're going to play the hand. If players can't remember when the last time you played a hand was, they are much more likely to fold and let you pick up the blinds right there.

This situation happened to me last night:

Down to 3 players. BB: $200
Player A: 7k
Me: 7.5k [Qh, Qc]
Player B: .5k

Player A raises 200 to 600. I re-raise him all-in. Player B folds. Player A thinks for a while and then calls with AK. He hits an A on the river and easily goes on to win.

Is my all-in re-raise correct? Is his call correct? I had not let him make very many moves when it got down to four players.

Your play isn't the best you could raise up to 1800 and you'll get a call and be able to get away from the hand. His call is absolutely horrible. IMO but lots of people will make the call so you need to protect yourself and make the raise to 1800. If he comes over the top you can fold, if some scare cards come or A or K you can fold. I also like 1800 cause you can survive an AA or KK
