There is a 2-table going on right now with many of you guys in it. I tried to start chatting with all of you, and got some message saying that "Observer chat is available only for those who have a buy-in to the tournament". Now I saw others who didn't have a buy in chatting. So I decided to e-mail poker stars and find out why this is happening. The first response I got was a bunch of BS, so I replied and got the following response, and I'd like your thoughts on this.

Hello Rich,

You're not being singled out, thousands of players, literally can't chat as
observers for the paid events, there's 2 limitations, one not enough money, the other not enough time around playing for real money. That's how it is and players partaking on the events appreciate the new features.

Yes, as anything, security compromises liberties. That's the trend
nowadays, something we need to get used to.

So are they telling me that I can't chat because I don't have enough money in my account, because if that's the case, that's pretty damn sad.

Hey biz,

I got that too when I first downloaded stars. I guess they want you to have $5.50 in your account to chat. Doesn't make sense to me but these rules are usually because of someone's previous action. Probably so a bunch of play money folks can't start terrorizing tables.

Does that mean for the $5000 heads up table you need $5000 in your account to chat?

I think the reason they do this, from my experience, is you used to see a lot of observers begging for money, anywhere from $0.25 to $100.00. Just constant messages, over and over. I haven't seen it in a while, so i guess that requirement took care of it.

Yes, people used to beg all the time. It was really getting out of hand. I for one am glad they have started to impliment something like this.
