View Full Version : Course 8 - Lack of Discussion

I keep checking for discussions about Course 8, and am disappointed that there aren't any happening.
Then I went and checked last sitting's stats at SOA and saw only 150 taking 8/Health.
So I guess there just aren't the numbers here that there use to be.

Reflecting back to one year ago, I would say course 5 turned out to be alot easier than course 8. Not only do you have several study manuals, actex/jam, there were also several seminars to choose from, and the material was much simpler.
Course 5 you could study, then forget about in a couple of weeks.
The Course 8 material is digging into very detailed knowledge where I feel like you need to be an expert to answer any questions. Expert enough that you have to learn the material, not just memorize it like you guys are doing with those stupied Mnemonics.

Your numbers are all you need: 150 takers of 8H. And how many do you expect here? And of those, how many are interested in discussing the exam?
I suggest you start some topics about the exam you're taking. The forum is not just for reading, ya know!

Or maybe it's too hard to find your course's topics amid the other 8's and 5's and 6's and PD's
Hmmm, there's GOT to be a solution for that...but what? What can it be?

If this is your first seminar with Sharp, don't expect too much. Ya he's a nice guy, but if you're looking to be taught anything, this is not the place. During Course 5 seminar, he was in one room and Jam was in another at the same hotel. I ended up ditching Sharp and sitting in the stairwell listening in to Jamboy. Jamboy understood that everybody just wants to pass. Sharp on the other hand, well, you'll see soon enough.

I'm taking Course 8I and will be attending the Sharp seminar next week. It seems like I have heard all the same things about Sharp. I'm just looking forward a week away from all the other responsibilities in my life (family, work, life in general).
I also agree Course 8 sux. Course 5 was easier (a lot more lists/memorization too).
