I respect Gandalf's opinion and want to keep him in the game, at least a while longer. I'm not his Lackey. On the KP vote, I was waiting for the ghost choice and just gave up waiting and decided to go to bed. It is coincidence that we chose the same candidate. The fact that Gandalf had singled out KP probably had some influence, but the only discussion we have had were in the forum and there was very little or nothing about KP in my posts until I decided to vote for him.
Yes, Gandalf singled out an innocent student. It had nothing to do with the chat with Sunny as I did PM Gandalf and indicated Sunny didn’t even believe it was KP. It had nothing to do with the Slayer denial as there is a new slayer.
Not to alienate Macroman, but I did not single out KP. I did publicly suggest him. I did put him #1 (#2 briefly) on my list to the ghosts. There were more than two names on the list. There were reasons for each. If being wrong about who is EC is an indication of guilt, I think we're all in trouble.

Chat was a factor, despite your PM that Sunny didn't believe it was KP. KP seemed like a possibility anyway, and, IIRC, for a while Sunny did think it may well have been KP. Her final conclusion may not have been her best conclusion. (Though now of course her final conclusion was correct.)

Slayer denial was your issue, one I still don't even understand why you think it was an issue. I never cited it publicly or to the ghosts. That argument was absurd. Since it never had any merit, KP wasn't going to magically become innocent because we had a new slayer.

There was another issue, that caused me to suspect 3 of the 4 people I suggested to the ghosts. It has some validity, but is not compelling. I described it to the ghosts. I have not aired it here because it is conceivable that it or similar behavior may be repeated, perhaps making it easier to focus on one specific EC. If the ghosts suggest Cho Da and me, despite your orders for only one, I will air it. No one will be convinced Cho Da is guilty from it. I suspect most will agree that it has some merit, and that Cho Da is one person it points to.

I may well be wrong on Cho Da (we'll probably be wrong no matter who we hit; absolutely if we* hit me), but he's the most likely EC in my book.

*If the ghosts suggests only one name, mine, I will vote to lynch myself. Otherwise, I know I'm not EC, anyone else might possibly be, so I will vote for the other suggested name.

I agree with jadzia. Cho Da's "I wouldn't post" argument is certainly possible, but not nearly enough to swing me to Sunny. No one should, from the perspective of winning the game, post as EC1 or EC2. But they did (Good for them! Mr. P created those ids, not to be an EC handicap, but to increase the fun of the game.). There aren't many posts, suggesting some clear element of caution.

Since (I hope) it's down to a two-person race, here's the other reason I suspected you. You can use the same defense you already did. Someone changed EC1's avatar to the rainbow flag. Who? My guess about the participants most interested in graphics were KP (who obviously now did not do it), you, jables, and avi. Avi, for other reasons, I think is not EC, which leaves you and jables. On this issue alone, it would be more likely jables. Overall, I thought you were the better choice to hit now than jables.

Anyone could have changed the avatar. Now that this issue is in the open, other names may be suggested for the next hit.

I agree. The only reason to post an early death scene is to deceive. He obviously wants to influence votes by his assertion of innocence. This behavior is much more consistent with an EC member desparately trying to avoid lynching than an innocent student with a busy work day.

I suspect, now more than before, that he is EC. I think he may have hoped to sneak into the ghost forum briefly; maybe even have hoped that students turn would pass with no one being lynched.

Before the ghosts proposed two names, I feel I made a reasonable guess that turned out to be wrong, from among all the players. A much better guess than some names would have been.

I think there's a very good chance that if the ghosts felt constrained to choose among the top 3 student picks at that time, they had no chance of hitting an EC. I know I'm not EC, and I rather doubt Sunny is.

After the voting, I think I and the voters made what was clearly the better choice among the two names, though in retrospect it was wrong. The other may have been no better.

As for being trustworthy, each student needs to decide for themself. What is known is that we all died as innocent students. The same can not be said for at least 2 and possibly 3 of the remaining players.

So the question is, who do you consider more trustworthy; a living student who may have their own self-interests (and those of the EC) in mind or a collection of players that have been proven innocent?

I least trust the EC. They're somewhere among the living. I trust the living, but not completely. I know there are no EC among the ghosts.

Even KP I trust somewhat. Despite our major differences, I have no direct evidence that he's done anything he doesn't think is in the student teams' best interest. He wants to lynch me, but so do many innocent students. Whatever he has said about me and done, it may all have been his best effort to lynch someone he really thinks is EC. We have no reason to think he PMed anyone except me. Thus, were it not for the ghosts' independent statements that he may have breached security, I would completely trust him to be on the students' side. Given the ghosts concerns, I've got to be wary.

Had they complied with your "request" and proposed just me, I would have been hit, and you would have blamed the ghosts when I was innocent. 1) Cho Da: Sorry about your lynching. You were not at the top of my list for likely EC, but I do not think that my choices would have been received favorably by the students, since they were getting few or no votes. I do hope you'll come over to the ghost forum and help us out there, as I continue to have great respsect for your ability to reason. We have a great deal of information there and would be glad for any insight into which data you believe are important indicators of who is EC.

2) EK: I think it is time to bury the hatchet here, preferably between the shoulder blades of EC. I respect that you don't want the game to get boring. Please respect that we have a lot of infomation by PM that is not generally available, as well as some observations that we think many players have overlooked so far. I think that with the ghosts providing 2 names each round, this will allow for fun, spirited debate amongst the students rather than a shepherd syndrome, while still utilizing all the best information we have to target EC.

3) KP: Sorry to have had you booted from the ghost forum. While you may disagree with this, I would hope that you can at least understand our reasons. The ghost forum is a team activity, and we can't have people releasing selected information without first having some sort of discussion or consensus. You are welcome to make the case to rejoin if you can provide some sort of assurance or evidence that your earlier actions were not contrary to our aims. Preferably this would be confirmed by whoever was the recipient of your earlier message, if it was not a message to EC.

4) To the remaining innocent students: Recent events have been something of a distraction from our main purpose, which is to identify and eliminate the EC. Now is the time to put these behind us. I would urge everyone to try and let go of past grudges, and newly consider everyone's actions to this point, as to whether or not they may be EC1 or EC2. Please continue to PM your observations and analysis to the ghosts and EC_Slayer, as we rely upon these.

I'm assuming Gandalf included me among his suspicions because I'm prone to changing my avatar now and then, and I post a lot of pictures, but I can assure you that I'm not EC this game. What was EC1's reasoning to switch away from the SOA logo? It was fear that it might out the real EC1 as someone on the life side? I haven't kept it a secret or anything in my posts and in chat that I'm on the P&C side...Just looking back at EC1's posts now, I see that EC1's avatar has changed to Gandalf's? When did that happen? :-?

Just a few things to note, for both the living students and the ghosts, perhaps they have been or will be thought of sooner or later, but just to make sure, and here are my two cents:

1. Perhaps it would be better to stop suspecting the louder students. Change the roster of suspects (as EK seemed to have indicated at one point) with those we've not put on the radar lately. For the next round, we should switch our perspectives and try to scrutinize some of the less noticed others.

2. I agree with 4sigma that we did what we thought was best. I do have one point to make. Karma Police, who I know irl, is probably the only one that I know of who can simply laugh at what Abducens does here at the RF and actually admire Abducens' humor and the way Abducens is simply not bothered by all others and continues to harrass and annoy others effectively to no end. Perhaps this would be helpful to mend the fences over there at the ghost forum and it'd be nice if Karma would make some effort to prove his innocence, but I just want to say that my feeling is all that Karma has done is in jest, there was never any communication with the EC and he was just trying to get the EC, in some very unconventional ways true, but knowing him, that's all he is doing (and I bet he is laughing at all of it and whole brouhaha it caused with the ghost forum). Perhaps this could help explain everything? his behavior etc? I just think that actuaries are not very good at communications sometimes, and though I don't pretend to be an expert, I have worked in the media and am a total extrovert, and knowing Karma irl does help a little bit.

3. One more thing to note briefly, I also have noticed how cynical each one of us is about each other, and this have seeped even into the ghost forum, and I don't believe it is merited, that we should doubt the ghost forum as much as we do. Granted, I've never played the game before so I don't know how it was in the past. But again I want to encourage the ghosts and commend them for the diligent work they've been doing, and I do believe it'll be more and more valuable in time. Hey, if anything, we onlt know for sure those in the forum are innocent (barring the complication of the sleeper cooperating with the ECs etc). I think we should all work together. Voice our concern of having not hit an EC yes, but cynicism, distrust, negativity, are exactly what the ECs want us to have against each other! So be sharp and observant yes, but perhaps hold the cynicism a little? :tfh:

As I have seen it, I do not respect the information you have 4sigma (or point-by-point posts). I have approximately 300 to 400 PMs outside the brain trust of the Ghost Forum, all concerning this game. I do not share important game-related thoughts with the Ghost Forum as it is not secure.

How much discussion did swing voting generate? Compare that to the discussion that occurred after you nominated Sunny and Cho Da. Two nominees has proven to be a failure for generating discussion. Move on to a different idea.

Recent events have been something of a distraction from our main purpose, which is to identify and eliminate the EC.
That may be the purpose for the ghost forum, but I intend to stay alive as well as eliminate the EC. I won’t quote the PM sent to me recently but a student shared the thought they too had been trying to survive, but before this past round questioned the desire to remain a student when the ghosts have more fun.

There is a survival element to this game. The EC is knocking us off three at time and I am sick of it. Now is the time for those with something to lose to take personal action. The Ghost Committee isn’t concerned with our lives.

Will an active student who did not vote for Cho Da please stand up and give a direction for students to take this next round? I am eager to follow someone who risks what I risk.

For the record, having missed in our first several attempts to hit EC is not all that disappointing. The odds of hitting EC on any given attempt at this early stage are only 3% - 4%.

According to the model BC sent earlier, the initial odds of the students winning the game was 78.2%. Even having missed with our first 4 lynchings and our first 3 slayings, our odds of winning are still 72.3%, even if we have not hit the sleeper EC. If we have hit the sleeper, our odds have improved to 83.2%. Since our odds of having hit the sleeper are roughly 7/32, our weighted average odds of winning at this stage are still 74.7%. Only 3.5% worse than when we started. So I would encourage people not to become dismayed at this early stage. There is a lot of lynching and slaying still to come.

Note that I have checked BC's model for reasonableness but have not audited it in detail. BC, perhaps you can let me know if there is an updated model or if I interpreted the current one correctly.

I think it makes it dangerous to sleep there, if one is concerned about losing one's body, which fortunately I no longer am.

While this location has become of great interest to myself, it has just now come to my attention. I have not had the opportunity to review its merits with the remaining ghosts. While I am therefore strongly interested in its purchase, I would ask that you wait for confirmation while I review its acceptability with the others. If you have any comments upon its suitability, I would be interested in your advice before escrow closes.

I remember attempting to crack the security of the Ghost Forum last time. I did this with another current living student. We tried the obvious posts by posters, the all unread posts, the direct link in (which is how I originally scanned this site as banned student - just type the link without using left-click links). I reported back to him that I couldn't do it. I thought the sucker believed me, but perhaps he also found a way in and didn't tell me. I wouldn't trust the Ghost Forum with my valued thoughts.

I did note both to Gandalf and the Ghost Forum that KP was no longer a suspect before his lynching. Ghost Forum decided otherwise. I didn't give the Ghost Forum such a warning for Cho Da but snafu should have known better. I will not give information to the Ghost Forum only to be used in their asinine endgame strategy where they are oblivious to the number of students they let die. My memory must be going, too. My recollection, matches Leela's, and that this is the fourth EC game.
Games 1 and 2 were played without a ghost forum. Student team lost both.
Game 3 was played with a ghost forum. Student team won.
Game 3 was also the first to have a Slayer, another big advantage for the students. Student team would have far more turns in Game 3, greatly improving its odds, but thanks to ghosts, slayer, PMs from and public discussions by students, we got the EC amazingly quickly.

Yep. Not only do I have 6 chess games going within the Rebel tournaments, but I am also running a chess computer at home as an opponent to three other players and the "Rebel Forum vs Fritz" competition.

I could be the EC and this could be my cover (which is easy enough to verify by checking the chess posts and asking chess players), but the truth is the conversation is about as much fun as watching the derivations of Physics equation. It's simply a lack of interest, but staying quiet keeps things interesting.

Oh and the only reason I complimented the hat was because I figured that was about how meaningful the conversation would get. With all the recent talk about keeping the point on the hat, we see I was right.

At least we're getting more interesting topics. The reason I stated my point to the slayer publicly was that I wasn't hoping to point him/her in one direction (my gut instinct is no better than theirs), but to say not everyone else's opinion always matters.

As for pills....I have some green ones if anyone would like those....Not only do they keep points in hats, but they also have some "added benefits." Pictures in leather only by request.

p.s. Slayer, don't be afraid to have fun with this position. The game is much more boring without it.

p.p.s. If you really think I am EC, why would I change my strategy? I was never one to be put up to be lynched last game so the strategy I used last time would work just fine....leather and all. I was suggested a few times, but pretty much ignored. Dang Cubed just wanted to tick the remaining students off (plus he got really lucky, because he was next on my list). It just isn't much fun when the most interesting topic we had up until about 5 days ago was how much Sunny could post incriminating things, and how stupid EC1 is. Now that we're talking about pointy things, this could get so much more interesting. :wink: :roll:

However, please check out more specifics of the exact properties that I specified -- there are reasons that I am interested in those particular buildings, not just the Doerun region, which may be more evident if you review my previous post.

I should clarify that my interest in purchasing in Doerun is a combination of future and current considerations. If housing prices fluctuate in the future, it will have been embarrasing to have been asleep at the wheel :oops:

Thanks for the tip on this. Unfortunately, lollipop factories are terrible places to haunt, as the smell of all the lollipop byproducts is pretty overpowering. I do not think that I would be willing to offer anything more than $200K.

The pointy-hat wizards were doing much better towards the start of the season, but their leather-clad opponents appear to be coming on strong and it is now anybody's guess who will make the playoffs.

My crazy girlfriend may or may not have called the cable company to disconnect my service. I’m stuck at home waiting for the cable guy or girl as there hasn’t been any indication what time he or she may arrive. I see the EC hits entirely differently, but not giving us much info.

SSH - probably random. Nothing had happened in the game, so no one knew how he (not sure we know "he") would play, and few RF posts anywhere.
Leela, Rocky, 4Sigma - all hit because it should have been clear to the student team that they were probably innocent students. Thus, we would lynch someone else, increasing the chances we lynch EC. Leela's death surprised me at first, but afterwards I realized that based on her making lists of votes, etc we should have considered her very likely innocent. Rocky, likely innocent based on his attacks on EC1. 4Sigma, likely innocent based on his strategy discussions and the fact almost no one was suggesting him.

Even if that is not the basis, I don't see classifying Leela, Rocky, or 4Sigma pre-death as quiet. Especially not Rocky: he was regularly taunting EC1, had started to throw jabs at Sunny, and commented on others along the way. With Leela it's harder to remember since she was with us in the delightful flesh a shorter time, but she certainly was active tabulating what had happened.

Maybe there is one EC among the noisiest, but I can't imagine finding both there. One, maybe both, are quieter than average, IMO.

I ever so slowly open the door and squeeze through to stand in the gloomy light of the room. Papers are stacked neatly on the desk, and the room seems vacant, but I am not so sure and cautiously begin to explore. I first check under the table, knowing it would be the first place I would hide, but find nothing. I edge my way around the room, checking a storage cabinet, behind a coat rack, inside a garbage bin, and finally behind the huge grey machine marked Scantron which looks as if it hasn't been used in years. Even though I find nobody, the hairs on my neck stand at edge and I am certain I am not alone.

Finally, I remember that there is space behind the crimson drapes, and cautiously approach, drawing a knife as I do. I edge up to one corner of the drapes, cautiously crouch down, and throw back them back swiftly, leaping after with my knife. I stumble in surprise when I realize I am still alone. I scan the room, thinking I am just becoming too paranoid, and start to walk back to the other end of the room. Suddenly, a weight hits my back, and I am on the ground.

Somehow I manage to roll the weight off me and then turn tail to run as fast as I can. I glance back briefly to see who I am running from, but at that moment I trip over a power cord and go sailing in the air. I instinctively hold my arms in front of my face to shield myself, and the moment before I hit the ground realize I still have my knife in my hand. As it painfully plunges into my throat, my last thoughts are of my partner admonishing me "Your idiocy is going to be the death of you"

A point to remember is that we don't know if the slayer hit EC1 or EC2. Don't think that just b/c cubedbee was dumb enough to give himself a Colombian necktie in his death scene that he was EC1. Just for clarification for the studio audience, here's what's is in effect as a result of the first EC being slain:

- The slayer is no longer protected - once s/he is hit, the students are slayerless
- There may or may not be a sleeper EC
- The students must find both the original and (possible) sleeper EC to win the game
- The stapler votes are only based on the 2 original EC members

Am I missing anything else of importance, based on the rules?

Oh, I have a question: So when we hit the next EC, will we find out if they are the sleeper EC or regular EC? If so, then the stapler could be essentially be awarded before the end of the game, right? (Of course, that's assuming the students will win, which I think is a very safe assumption.)

One cautionary note from this great news: we no longer have slayer replacement (and we now see it would have been very bad to replace this great slayer).

Our odds are much, much better getting two shots per round rather than one. Our killing our own slayer would be very, very costly. We should rely on the ghosts to protect the slayer.

This could still mean getting two names per round from the ghosts, and letting students fight it out between them (or choose Sunny, who presumably is not the slayer since she was already listed by the ghosts). It helps the ghosts some, but not a lot, to be sure that some innocent students are not the slayer.

I don't think Sunny is EC, but I'm even more convinced she is not the slayer, from the ghosts' action.
