i was just wondering if anyone could give tips for studying for corporate finance. i read through the book very quickly a while back and have just started using the weiss study guide.

i know some people mentioned you could get through it with just a study guide but i've been having trouble solving some of the problems just using the study guide notes.it seems like there are lots of questions where you have to be able to memorize random equations. also it seems that some of the older exam questions that were open ended require a lot more specific knowledge of the material covered and the study guide doesn't even go over that material in detail. (how relevant are the questions from the old exams?)

can anyone suggest an effective way to study this material? i have already gone over the interest theory text and study guide and i think im pretty close to mastering that material. that stuff seems a lot more straightforward to me than the corporate finance material.

For the Corporate Finance Material you might want to make an 8 page outline of the most important topics in your opinion. Make sure that you have all of the formulas listed and notes on when to use them.

Go back to Interest Theory and Study some more, I believe that this topic is the meat of the test.(or it was when I took it when it was first offered. ) You may want to pay more attention to questions that involve using general principles. Have fun:))

I used the text and the CSM study manual - it has a lot of past problems and was fairly helpful for getting an idea of what is considered important. There definitely are several formulas that you need to know.
