Seems that Gandalf is on his way to getting a new necktie. I pesonally think he is innocent but will most likely swing anyway.
With that in mind, we will need a solid cover story.
If Gandalf is NOT EC
KP went rogue. Gandalf sought to help the ghosts by discrediting KP. The move backfired and Gandalf is fly-bait.
If Gandalf is EC
KP went rogue. Gandalf sought to build some innocence evidence by going against KP when he (as an evil EC) knew that KP had broken with the ghosts and was with the EC now. The gambit by Gandalf backfired and he got himself a seat at the formal dining room in EC Hell!!!

Do you think that this will do anything other than lead the students to feel even more strongly that Gandalf has the ghost forum under his thumb? This would surely give EK a warm fuzzy feeling all over.
I say that we leave it up to Gandalf to write the cover story if he gets lynched. He must have something in mind here.

Why do we need a cover story if Gandalf is innocent. If he is, then we are vindicated in banning KP based on info from Gandalf.
I think we only need a cover story if Gandalf is EC.

If I were still a student, I'd wonder why Gandalf played out this whole "PM from KP" idea if it turns out that he's not EC. Since Gandalf has played rationally in the past, I don't think he could get away with "I just wanted to liven things up".
We still have a little bit of a credibility issue with some students from the KP banishment. I'm keeping an eye on the game to see how long it takes the students to let go of the possibility that the ghost forum may be tainted.

Gandalf figured out early on that this was a hoax. I think it was because KP claimed that Gandalf had sent us stuff that he had not sent. Gandalf then attempted to play along, but he has now been caught in a lie and has attracted the wrath of the students.
Here is how I see things playing out:
1) Gandalf is lynched, despite our efforts to protect him, and turns out to be EC: We hold a very public apology for mistrusting KP. We've hit an EC, and now it's vital to protect the slayer. Let's all be one big happy family again, OK?
2) Gandalf is lynched, despite our efforts to protect him, and he turns out to be innocent. Silly students! See what happens when you ignore the ghosts? Now look, you need to trust us.... We continue the KP hoax. KP perhaps makes a clearer effort to join the dark side.
3) Gandalf is not lynched, because we think Gandalf is innocent and nominate 2 different people and the students go along. We have a slightly better shot to hit an EC this round. Meanwhile EC will probably think that Gandalf is the slayer. Probably they will hit Gandalf. If not, this would be a strong indication that Gandalf may be EC, and we should recommend that he be lynched next round. Everyone will pile onto this bandwagon and hopefully we will be right.
My inclination is to steer for scenario #3.

The only problem I foresee with scenario 3 is that the EC has told KP that they want to wait until one EC is dead to get the Slayer. So, if they really think Gandalf is the Slayer, they may wait to get him. Hopefully, they'll just think we're convinced Gandalf is innocent, but not the Slayer (if he's innocent).

I have to take a look at this and see how convinced I am that we want to try and keep Gandalf alive. I will review his history tonight.

Also, if we lynch an innocent student this round (when Gandalf is looking pretty guilty and we don't nominate him), several students will question our credibility again. This is a more delicate situation than it seems at first glance.
We need the students to swing more votes away from him!
