US-MA-Boston-Sr Asset Allocation Director
Description Role:
This individual will be responsible for DB Solution and Freedom Fund , 529 portfolios.
He/she will be located with and work as part of the Asset Allocation Team within
Structured Investment Group at FMR Co. The client must see this person as a member
of the Asset Allocation Team within Structured Investment Group.
Responsibilities:
Investment Analysis & Management (50%)
This person will work as part of the Asset Allocation Team ensuring that client
portfolios are managed according to the specific client mandates and restrictions, are invested in line with investment policy, and supporting the portfolio management
process. The specific investment role will determined by the individuals skill set and
could include optimization, research, attending policy meetings, etc,. The individual should attend investment meetings in order to have a full understanding of the portfolio strategy.
Client service, sales & marketing support, distribution liaison, and product management
(50%):
Client Service:
This person will be the key point person within the Asset Allocation Team for supporting the appropriate distribution channels client service function. Responsibilities will include:
Be the portfolio manager for 30 plus client accounts. Attend client meetings (no more than twice a year per client) to present the
performance and portfolio review.
Available to answer client and consultant telephone enquiry's on performance and
investment strategy.
Provide to the client service group with sufficient materials such as charts and
written commentary to enable the client service person to write quarterly letters
and prepare material for the client meetings.
Sales & Marketing Support:
This person will be the key person within the Asset Allocation Team for supporting the
distribution channels sales and marketing efforts. Responsibilities will include:
Being the portfolio manager at both semi and final presentations for new business.
Attending consultant meetings to present and review the respective investment process, performance, and portfolio strategy.
Sign off on non-standard RFP's after all necessary Fidelity parties have been consulted.
Be available to speak at conferences and seminars on investment related matters.
Ensure that client investment guidelines are compatible with the ability to meet the client objectives.
Devising investment policies and guidelines for specific client portfolios.
Product Development:
This person will be the key person within the Asset Allocation Team for supporting the
distribution channels product development efforts. Responsibilities will include:
Relaying to the distribution channels the expertise of the respective product
group and how this may be captured in new product offerings.
Devising investment policies, benchmarks, and guidelines for specific new products.
Requirements
This individual should have a minimum of 10 years investment experience. Should have
the stature, experience, and maturity to be credible as the portfolio manager for
sophisticated institutional clients. Must have a good knowledge of actuarial science,
asset allocation, asset/liability modeling, structuring pension fund portfolios, and
quantitative disciplines. A pension plan sponsor, actuary, or pension consultant would
have an ideal background. Must be prepared to travel extensively to attend client meetings, speak at conferences and make final presentations for new business. This individual must be able to contribute to the Asset Allocation Teams investment process.
Education
Bachelor's degree, MBA or equivalent. CFA desirable.
