I moved the Tigers down, the Brewers up, and swapped the Astros and Cards. Ankiel and Smith are expected to win 10 games each for the Cards this year and neither start the season in the rotation. Kid Rock’s NL surprise just demonstrates the diminished values of the Cards a month ago versus now.

In a brilliant idea (ha) to set up their rotation against the Astros, the Cardinals started Garrett Stephenson and Andy Benes for games two and three of the season, and predictably, both got shelled. :( Hopefully they'll get their act together soon and realize Bud Smith pitches circles around either one of these guys.
Draco, smart prediction on the AL surprise.

No predictions here. Sorry. too much work, or research.
On a different note, though still about "predictions," how many times have you heard Barry Bonds's projected homers for the season, based on two data points and projecting over 160 data points?

I only wish.
And the only reason I went with the Mets so high is because I'm a big fan. What's the rule? Never bet on your own team?
And what happened to Alomar and Vaughn? Microcosms of the Mets they were, althoughI suppose Vaughn's probably too big to be a microcosm.
Will Art Howe bring back respectability to the Mets? How long will it take before Fred Wilpon realizes that he fired the wrong guy? Will they be able to dump the contracts of Vaughn, Burnitz, and Ordonez?
(Probably not, half the season, no, no, and no)

Vaughn has some kind of "be-fit" clause. Apparently he received a letter about it.
http://espn.go.com/mlb/news/2002/1101/1454088.html
Citing sources close to Wilpon, the Star-Ledger also reported that Vaughn has a clause in his contract that states the first baseman is obligated to stay in shape, with the standard stating Vaughn agreed "to keep himself in first class physical condition and to obey the club's training rules."

I think the key words are "stay" and "keep". If he started out a tub of crapulent lard then all he has to do is to maintain his level of original crapulence.
