Why? How young? The only choices are whether to go to college (of course!) and whether to gamble ("Keep it or try for $50000) which you should do only if you are behind.

I hate the new version of the game. My wife hates the old version of the game and loves the new.

When we have a child old enough to play, we'll break the tie and declare a winner. (We have both editions.)

I liked the side betting on the spins.

It was my least favorite of the classic games

I agree that Life "the game" was boring. The cars were of terrible quality. I never seemed to be able to get as many children as I wanted. Always ended up in some hopelessly uninteresting profession.

Then again, perhaps it was not unlike the real thing. ;)

Anyone ever play the tornado rule? I don't remember what it entailed except you got some sort of penalty for spinning the wheel off its axis...

Yes, I remember that salary for the doctor: $25,000.

While still young enough to play the game, a new edition came out, with the only change being to double the money amounts.

Sounds intriguing. How does that work?

Also, I hate the new version. I wish I had a copy of the older version. (Is "copy" the right word there?)

It was boring. So boring.

I suspect you could find an old version on e-bay.

Basically, if you spun the little wheel too hard, it would go spinning across the board. If you did that you had to pay some amount of money to everyone else to pay for "tornado damages." Apparently we had short attention spans...

I used to play the old game a lot. I didn't know there was a new version. What are some of the major differences?

What would be really cool is that if the tornado hit a car, it would have to start play where it lied, or at the nearest space if it weren't on the track.
