Is anyone memorizing the condensed outline for this exam? If so, what page are you on? How many pages per day can you memorize?

I'm kinda jumping around. I'm up to page 18 or so of the condensed outline. But I've done pages 41-43 also (Interest Rate Generators, Considerations in Assessing the Level of Interest Rate Exposure - CIA, and Risk Management Issues According to the CIA). Those pages were pure memorization without a lot of details to transfer over from the detailed outline so I spent 2 days on those.

so you know all that CIA stuff? i have a lot of acronyms for those pages.....must be reviewed at least once per day to keep it in storage......

Here's one thing I have noticed with my acronyms. After going over stuff over and over and over again for a couple of days, I have found that I don't even need or use the acronym after a while. I recite the list in a completely different order. Having a photographic memory, it tends to be mostly in the order given in the condensed outline, which is usually not the order of the bullets in my acronym. Has anyone else found this to be true?

& forget it all. delete *.*

It takes me much longer to memorize lists where it is not clear to me what the items mean or how they relate to the list title.
After getting through half of section A I switched to my weaker part, section E, which I just finished. I am also almost done with section F. My basic pace is three condensed outline pages for six days a week. I'm also trying to work at least one problem a day.

that's not too much different from my pace, but i stayed with the order.

Okay, I broke it down in Excel: two pages of condensed outline per day. It looks a whole lot more manageable now. But still two pages per day, plus review of past cards, plus working problems may be too ambitious.

i am doing one page per day (5 per week) plus problems plus review of past pages......it is too ambitious - i have fallen behind on reviewing. hopefully i killed it so much when i first memorized that i won't need too much review the week before the exam.....which is when i will finish memorizing.....
I'm through parts A and B with pretty decent retention, I think. I have been surprised at how much the CD's help. Though they make drives to and from work tortuous, it really helps to have listened to the list a few times before I actually memorize the card.
Are people practicing essays concurrently with their memorizing, or are you saving it to the end? I don't know how much more mental energy I have to devote to essays, but I am a little worried that I won't have more than ten days or so if I leave them until the end. Is that enough time?

essays? what do you mean by essays? i have never memorized an essay. you say you have memorized through sections a&b. what does that mean? i thought it meant you had memorized through the condensed JAM......that's all the essay you need if you have filled in the proper amount of details.

I haven't started "memorizing" at all yet. I am just going to continue going through my notes, and the JAM notes. I think it is more important at this point to actually understand the material and be able to discuss the material. If I start memorizing now, I think it will be too easy to confuse myself if I do not understand the material. Besides, what if I actually have to interpret something on the exam, memorizing wouldn't really help me there.
I do intend to go through the process of memorizing the JAM outline though. I think I will spend the last two weeks on that and problems.

i went through the understanding part earlier. i don't see how you can memorize the JAM condensed outline in 2 weeks. i can't even read it in 2 weeks!

You are right that I have memorized parts A and B of the CO. When I mentioned essays, I meant essays from former exams, JAM or wherever else. I want to get an idea of how SOA can combine ideas from different parts of the syllabus. Also, I think that I need to build up the muscles in my hand!
Also, I agree with you that there is no way I could memorize the CO in two weeks. If I am trying to think about everything as I read it, just reading it in two weeks would take some effort (as you said).
Good luck, zapped! Try to stay positive - it sure helps me.

I think having a good understanding definitely aids memorization. I find my memorization slowing down in the areas where I have not read well.

My plan of two CO pages per day has been tough. I think it will pick-up in sections A and B. I try to do four CO pages on Saturday, but I am luck if I do three. I recall the JAM man suggesting

my JAM CO is riddled with notes crammed in everywhere. and it is multi-colored. one page per day is all my brain can handle. the first few pages were ok. it's the reviewing the last 50 or so that is getting me down.
Anyone memorizing the cards? I find this easier (relative term) than just memorizing pages.

Yes, I am using the cards, but I am using the CO pages to schedule my memorization.
