This is a tough one since re-seeding occurs, but that's what makes it fun. Here is the scoring:

Champion: 100 points
Each Conference Finalist: 25 points each
Conference Semi-Finalist: 10 points each

Bonus: Predict the NUMBER of goals scored in the Finals. Points will be 100 for exact guess, diminishing by 10 for each goal difference between actual and your guess. Example, I guess 25 goals and actual is 23, I get 80 points (100- 2x10).

Entries must be submitted by 12 PM the day of the first game.

That Yahoo league was my first foray into fantasy hockey. I have played in money leagues for basketball, football and baseball. I dreadfully mismanaged the games played portion, especially at goalie. Next year, I'll break out the can of whoop ass.

Go, Saku!

It was my fist experience too. But I've been lucky enough to end up with Iginla and Naslund. I'll probably suck as bad as you next year

EAST

Round 1
Boston over Montreal 4-2
Too much Boston fire-power, not enough for Montreal.

Philadelphia over Ottawa 4-1
Both have a big weakness in net. Neither would survive round 2. One just gets ousted earlier.

New Jersey over Carolina 4-0
Yeah, Carolina's a 3 seed...

Toronto over New York Islanders 4-2
Osgood is a great goalie...when his team is behind. Problem is, you don't win when you're behind, now do you?

Round 2
New Jersey over Boston 4-3
When it comes down to game 7, who do you want Brodeur or Defoe?

Toronto over Philadelphia 4-1
It comes down to the Flyers lack of goaltending.

Conference Finals
Toronto over New Jersey 4-2
Last I checked Brodeur only has 1 career goal. Toronto has more weapons, but could be stymied if NJ is allowed to interfere in the neutral zone.

WEST

Round 1
Detroit over Vancouver 4-1
Wake up call. Playoffs have started.

Colorado over Los Angeles 4-3
Forsberg? Will he play? Will he help? I dunno.

Phoenix over San Jose 4-1
San Jose swoon just starts later this year.

Chicago over St Louis 4-0
By some miracle St Louis gets the 4 seed. And blows it.

Round 2
Colorado over Chicago 4-0
Hawks finally realize they really just aren't as good as their record.

Detroit over Phoenix 4-2
Old men, getting tired, late games in Phoenix past their bedtimes.

Conference Finals
Detroit over Colorado 4-2
Neither team needs motivation for this series. Detroit is deeper.

Stanley Cup Finals
Detroit over Toronto 4-1
Cup goes back to where it belongs. Shanny wins Conn Smythe.

Round 1
Vancouver over Detroit, 4-2
I admit I would pick against the Dead Things no matter who they were playing, but the Canucks have a good shot at knocking them off. The Canucks are the only team that outscored Detroit in the regular season. The Dead Things have been coasting for a month, and the Canucks have been dominating. The biggest hole for Vancouver is in net, but if their forwards can keep the pressure on the glacial Wing defensemen they should be OK. Another reason for this pick is that I went to high school with Canuck forward Todd Warriner.

Colorado over LA, 4-1
Felix Potvin is as nice a guy as there is in hockey, but he is going downhill as a goaltender. The Kings are going to outplay the Avs by a lot, but Roy is going to make the difference.

San Jose over Phoenix, 4-3

Chicago over St. Louis, 4-3

Round 2

Colorado over Vancouver, 4-1
The Canucks will be out of steam physically and emotionally by this point.

San Jose over Chicago 4-2

Round 3

Colorado over San Jose, 4-2
A close fought series, but Roy will be the difference.

East

Round 1
Montreal over Boston, 4-2
Theodore will save the Habs once again.

Ottawa over Philadelphia, 4-1
The Flyers are going to try to rough up the Sens, but I don't think it is going to work. They are bigger and stronger, but the Sens are faster and better in transition. The series will be over before they realize that putting your forwards out of position to make hits is a bad idea if your defensemen are slow and your goalies are sieves. The only chance the Flyers have is if Lalime sucks more than Cechmanek and Boucher. It could happen.

Carolina over New Jersey, 4-2
No, the Hurricanes should not be a 3rd seed. But they are. The Devils have been playing well, but Carolina has the motivation of having lost to them last year. Also, everyone has been saying how they shouldn't be a 3rd seed for so long, they should be jumping to prove everyone wrong.

Toronto over Islanders, 4-2
I would rather see my Leafs play the Devils in the first round so they would be motivated right from the start. As it is, they may get caught looking ahead and get burned. In the end I think the Leafs' depth will save them. I worry that Quinn will keep Shayne Corson shadowing Yashin like year's playoffs. It worked then, but Yashin has been better and has better linemates, while Corson has stunk this year, and has been injured lately. This match up scares me.

Round 2

Carolina over Montreal, 4-2
There is a limit to how far Theodore can take them with skaters that are that bad.

Toronto over Ottawa, 4-1
The Leafs can play the Sens' game better than they can, and Lalime has no hope of outplaying Joseph.

Round 3

Toronto over Carolina, 4-2
Again, goaltending will be the difference.

Final

Colorado over Toronto, 4-3
Roy outduels Joseph in a fantastic final. Each game will have viewership that rivals that of the Olympic gold medal game. Roy edges Sundin for the Conn Smythe.

Bonus: 31 goals will be scored in the final.

Round 1
Montreal over Boston 4-2
Koivu scores twice in Game 1. Theodore pitches 2 shutouts.

Philadelphia over Ottawa 4-1
Ottawa too weak.

New Jersey over Carolina 4-2
Devils should sweep, but always seem to get lazy.

Toronto over New York Islanders 4-2
I just don't like the Islanders

Round 2
Montreal over Philly 4-3
Big brawl in Game 5. Roenick injured in Game 2.

Toronto over New Jersey 4-1
Joe N. shows why the Devils should not have made the trade.

Conference Finals
Toronto over Montreal 4-2
My Habs finally get derailed.

WEST

Round 1
Detroit over Vancouver 4-1
Too much.

Colorado over Los Angeles 4-3
That 7th game could be a tough one.

San Jose over Phoenix 4-1
Go Sharks!

Chicago over St Louis 4-0
Welcome back to the playoffs.

Round 2
Detroit over Chicago 4-0
Teams not in the playoffs for a long time don't usually go too far.

Colorado over San Jose 4-2
Roy picking up steam.

Conference Finals
Detroit over Colorado 4-3
Could go either way. Dead Wings on last legs.

Stanley Cup Finals
Detroit over Toronto 4-2
Hasek wins Conn Smythe with 3 shoutouts.

I hate the Habs. Bitter Nordiques fan here.

Philadelphia over Ottawa 4-2
Expect strong goaltending. NOT.

New Jersey over Carolina 4-2
Slow start for the Devils. And Carolina has been playing well since they got rid of Barrasso. Arturs is going to make it hard for NJ.

Toronto over New York Islanders 4-2
Yashin will have 2 SOG for the whole series.

Round 2
Toronto over Philly 4-1

New Jersey over Boston 4-3
That should be fun.

Conference Finals
New Jersey over Toronto 4-2
Cujo remembers that ha has to choke every year. :) Devils are back in the finals...

WEST

Round 1
Detroit over Vancouver 4-2
duh :)

Los Angeles over Colorado 4-3
The team from my new town will beat the former team from my old home town. Forsberg is in uniform for game 1, ties his laces and breaks his back. Out indefinitely. Roy throws a tantrum and drives over teammates with the Zamboni at the end of game 7.

Phoenix over SJ 4-2
Phoenix has been scoring a lot of goals recently.

St Louis over Chicago 4-3
Just because.

Round 2
Detroit over L A 4-3
Felix is goo but he went to Cujo school of dealing with pressure. Still better than Clint Malarchuck.

Phoenix over St-Louis 4-2

Conference Finals
Detroit over Phoenix 4-1

Stanley Cup Finals

Each game will have viewership that rivals that of the Olympic gold medal game.Maybe in Canada.

Clint Malarchuck - that reminds me of a poll during one of the games on ESPN - something along the lines of "Scariest sights in hockey." Nothing on their list compared to the night he took a skate across the throat.

Round 1

Boston over Montreal 4-3. Still surprises me that Boston is the 1 seed, should be a good series, but the Habs are like the Yankees I must cheer against them no matter what.

Philadelphia over Ottawa 4-0. Ottawa always falls flat on their face come playoff time.

New Jersey over Carolina 4-1. NJ should have no trouble dispatching Carolina

NY Islanders over Toronto 4-2. Ozzie will be out to prove that he is a worthy goaltender.

Round 2

New Jersey over Boston 4-2.

Philly over NYI 4-2.

Conference Finals

Philly over NJ 4-3.

WEST

Round 1

Detroit over Vancouver 4-0. Detroit sleepwalked through the last month of the regular season. Hopefully they can wake up in time.

Colorado over LA 4-2. Cry baby Roy doesn't get going until the 2nd and 3rd rounds.

SJ over Phoenix 4-2. See below

Chicago over St. Louis 4-2. I am hoping to get skybox seats for the 2nd round. If all the favourites [sorry but it's hockey so that is the way I have to spell it] advance then the BH's will be playing the Red Wings. So I must cheer for that match up.

Round 2

Detroit over Chicago 4-3. Chicago always gives the Red Wings problems even when they are bad.

Colorado over SJ 4-0. Once Cry Baby Roy starts to turn it on he is darn near impossible to beat.

Conference Finals

Colorado over Detroit 4-2. As much as I hate it, the Wings can't beat Cry Baby Roy in the playoffs. Plus by this point half the AARP members of the Wings will be hurt.

Stanley Cup Finals

Philly over Colorado 4-3. Only because I hate the 'Lanche and don't want them to win. Bonus: 30 goals scored in the 7 games.

Round 1

Montreal over Boston - Theodore has been hot, led the league in GAA, tied for second in shutouts and carried this team to the playoffs. Koivu is back for added lift, and the Bruins have blown more leads after 2 periods than any other team in the playoffs.

Philadelphia over Ottawa - Let's face it, the tandem of Boucher/Cechmanek stinks. Lalime isn't any better. Defence will decide the series. Philly has it, the Sens don't.

New Jersey over Carolina - Carolina comes in hot, and will give the Devils trouble, but in the end the difference will be Brodeur and a stingy Devils defence.

Toronto over NY Islanders - Young Isles won't make it past the first round this year, but they'll be back next year. Leafs have 3 solid net minders, Isles have Ozzy. 'nuff said. (Hey Leafs, shoot from center ice)

Round 2

Montreal over Philadelphia - Philly's weak goaltending will be exposed. Note to Bobby Clarke: add a goalie to your shopping list.

Toronto over New Jersey - OK, I just don't like the Devils. I see some low scoring games and a couple of OTs before this is done.

Conference Finals

Toronto over Montreal - The race to make the playoffs, and beating the 1 and 2 seeds will have the Habs worn out.

WEST

Round 1

Detroit over Vancouver - Numbers 1 and 2 in scoring this season, but special teams will make the difference.

Colorado over Los Angeles - The Avs haven't shown much scoring punch, but Roy will save them the embarrassment of an early exit.

San Jose over Phoenix - This should be the most physical of the first round series. It will be decided by the guys willing to do the hard work. Sharks get the edge with the likes of Nolan and Ricci.

St. Louis over Chicago - I don't even know that the Hawks have settled on their playoff goalie. Not a good omen.

Round 2

Detroit over St. Louis - Yes, the Wings dropped their last 2 to the Blues, but those games meant a lot more to St. Louis than Detroit. Now, every game matters. The Blues are still searching for a top tier goalie, and need one to go deeper in the playoffs.

Colorado over San Jose - I'm almost tempted to go the other way.

Conference Finals

Detroit over Colorado - As stated earlier by many, the Wings haven't played a meaningful game in a while, but still managed to get up for their games with the Avs.

Stanley Cup Finals

Detroit over Toronto - The way I see it, if the Wings make it this far, their focus will be on winning, and if that's true, they will pretty much be unstoppable. Hasek will probably win the Conn Smythe, since I don't think any one offensive player will distinguish himself. Kind of a default award.

Philadelphia over Ottawa 4-0. I will never fall for picking Ottawa again.

New Jersey over Carolina 4-1. NJ should have no trouble dispatching Carolina

Toronto over NY Islanders 4-2. Cujo is good for one round

Round 2

Philly over Toronto 4-1. Cujo is not good for two rounds.

Round 1

Detroit over Vancouver 4-2. Detroit learns after going down 1-2 that they can't walk through the playoffs. Unfortunately for everyone else that just wakes them up.

Colorado over LA 4-2. Av just too much for this team.

Phoenix over SJ 4-2. SJ just doesn't have enough

St. Louis over Chicago 4-2. The Blues are on a roll.

Round 2

Detroit over St. Louis 4-0. Detroit is awake.

Colorado over Phoenix 4-1. The Av;s are just too good for Phoenix.

Conference Finals

Detroit over Colorado 4-1. Colorado doesn't have enough offense right now without Forsberg and Hejduk (whatever that spelling is).

Well everyone's East bracket is pretty messed up. Looks like most people had Toronto coming out of the East. That pick is still OK for now. Me and a few others had NJ. That pick is shakey (I can't spell) right now. Although I still think that NJ will win the series. Carolina, I mean come on.

The West seems to be running along the seeds except for SJ. And they aren't much of an upset with everyone that picked them.

Surprise of the playoffs so far are Ottawa (or Philly). Been a great team for the last 5 years, but never won a playoff series (I believe). They have just embarassed the Flyers though.

Cosmo, the Sens were the 8th seed in the 1998 playoffs and they took out New Jersey for their only series win in this incarnation. There was an Ottawa Senators team that won the Stanley Cup in 1927, and a few other times before that (1927 was the first time that the NHL champion was awarded the Cup). That first incarnation folded (I think) in the early 30's.

Here's to hoping the Wings win the next 2 games 3-2 for a 24-goal total.

Since Kid hasn't been around, or maybe he's to shy to post the results of his contest that he won. Congrats, Kid.

Without Shanny's empty-netter, I'd have passed Ducky and Hanse for the second slot. Also, a tip of the cap to Hanse, who picked 11 of the 15 winners. Cannonball and Kid managed 10 each, while Ducky and Big D each had 9. Of course, Big D(ope)'s were all in the first 2 rounds. That'll teach ya to pick against the Wings.

I would rather lose than win by picking the Wings.
