He called with Jack high. classic.
Anyone else notice that Negraneau looks like he's processing about 1,000,000 things during his turn. twitching, fast blinking, etc. That guy, and lederer are machines.

That guy going out to the street to laugh about it with his buddies - now that is classic (classicly dumb).

Yeah, but you have to admire a guy that comfortable that he would do that. He was having fun and noone was going to stop him! Previously my favorite was the Master
spitting beer on the table.
I want to see him bust Hellmuth. That would be must see TV.
My other favorite quote was..."I have a straight" with a board of TT72 (or something like that)....but he did win.

The omaha tournament really showed how a person who gets lucky for a period of one day can win.
That guy sucked!

Regarding the Omaha guy, I wonder if he misread his hand at other points and bet big thinking he had a great hand. He would have then 'bluffed' someone out
of the pot. He would have had all the mannerisms and betting patterns of someone
holding the nuts...because in his mind he had them.

good question
I was laughing so hard when he doubted the dealer and other players that he had lost that hand ("Seven, eight, nine, ten...uh...seven, eight, nine, ten...D'oh!!!!!!!")

I liked the guy, he got inside the other one's skin and it cost him. Though I think he ended up losing becuase he felt he had to keep up the craziness.
I alos liked the ultimate winner who was able to just sit there and laugh at him

That guy that won omaha was a freaking joke!! "I'm a numbers guy and very analytical, which gives me an advantage", "I want to be the best poker player in the world, so far so good". Yet he doesn't know how much he can raise, he can't tell that he only has 4 to a straight, and maybe worst of all when was when he made a full house and Deeb said I have a full house too, he PROUDLY turns over the LOWEST possible full house and is surprised he didn't drag the pot. :shake:

Yeah, I got a kick out of that as well. His chance of winning (Or even tying) once Deeb said he had a full house were EXACTLY 0!!! I'm sure he still hasn't figured that out.
On a side note how much of that $40K do you think that guy has left as of right NOW? (8/12/04 7:09 am Vegas Time)

Reminds me of a cousin years ago while we were playing 5-card draw with a $5 limit. His name is Kenneth & he bets the max after he gets his draw. 2 others called his bet & revealed their hands first. Kenneth gets all cocky as he lays down a stellar 7-8-9-10-Q. To this day we still refer to any hand that is 1 card away as a "Kenneth straight". Maybe I should introduce him to Omaha & he could become a WSOP champ.

A 'Kenneth Straight"...that's classic...right up there with a "Cohete Suckout"... :D

In addition to finishing 7th in limit World Championship, Ellix Powers has also
finished 1st in 2 major limit tourneys(not WSOP). Both cashes were over 20K!.
What is up with this guy? Is he smart enough to change gears at the exact right
time to possibly Tight Aggressive?
He's comparable to the construction worker, Chris Hinchliffe, from the PP WPT
event. In the hands that were shown, he seemed to be playing like a fish. But then he places 2nd in a limit hold'em WSOP event.

Ellix Powers had the table on tilt. Did you see the hands David Chui was calling with?

he's acting....it's all a gimmick...if you ever see 9 people sitting around the final table of a tourny...i don't care if it's their first time....if they act dumb, it's a gimmick.
I don't believe anything I am told at the poker table (with regard to playing style, skill, or demeaner) - especially at that level. I'll make my judgements based on how they bet or what hands are shown - and if I am shown crap cards, or someone "mistakes" a straight - I'll know they are trying to put people on tilt, or they missed their draw and are embarrased to show they are chasing.

I think these freaks can only do well in limit events. Ever see a blind straddle in a NL game? lol
