Who's bored with studying?? It's not like I know everything inside out yet but I'm getting tired of looking at the same thing over and over again.

I'm studying for Course 2 and looking at Chapter 28 of Corp Fi which has tooooo many formulas. I suppose time will fly by (as it always does when one is having fun!) when I start doing practical questions for this chapter.

I know the feeling. I've been studying for 3.5 months now, and gone through all the material at least once. So I've seen most practice questions, except Nov 01 (saving it) and I'm still just making dumb mistakes. Kind of discouraging, so I get bored with it.

The weather doesn't help either. Too hot to study all week.

Yep, I'm in the same boat. Though I haven't been studying for that many consecutive months this time. It's my second attempt so didn't have to spend so much time on it this time. It's too early to do the memorization bit, a few weeks from now I'll have forgotten the stuff and have to re-memorize anyhow.

She's trying to warn you not to get overconfident.

You think you'll be alive for a second attempt, but someone looking for victims is hot on your trail...

I'm sorry. Sometimes comments like that give me the surge of adrenaline that I need to get through the last few weeks. No harm intended. :(

Believe it or not, I actually had one of my old bosses say to me (paraphrasing) ... "You know, getting back to back 5's is not unheard of."

That pissed me off to no end. I showed him. ;)

I wasn't really mad Kitten, I forgot my smiley :D

Franchise, I know what you mean about bosses making comments like that and then proving them wrong. Believe me, I've gotten my own form of "revenge" and the looks of shock were very satisfying.

Course_Woman,

If you're sick of the material, why not take a day or two off from studying? Take your "study" time at home (if your company allows this), and spend the day watching Oprah, doing crosswords, or whatever you feel like. Seriously.

I usually do this a couple of times during the last few weeks before exams. (Gee, I sure hope no one from my company is reading this...) Yeah, I miss out on a little bit of study time, but afterwards, I usually feel refreshed and ready to tackle the material again, and I think I'm able to study more effectively as a result.

Thanks for the suggestion ...
yes, I know what you mean. You have to take a mental break once in awhile, otherwise it becomes counterproductive.

Hmmm ... I think I'll take a "study day" tomorrow. ;)

In all seriousness, that sounds like a great thing to do. You can't be burned out for the exam. You gotta clear your head sometimes!

That's a good idea, but somehow I can't bring myself to do this. I usually take a day or two off of vacation time. Or, sometimes when I feel really tired, I call sick. Still, I often feel uncomfortable calling sick. I mean, I'm not dying or something...

Cynic--

I know what you mean. I usually felt kind of guilty about doing this, but I usually justified it by assuring myself that I would be a lot more productive after taking a day or two off from studying. (OK, maybe this was just a lame attempt to assuage my guilt, but it worked for me). Anyway, as long as I ultimately passed the exam, I didn't feel too guilty about it.

Now I'm really starting to feel guilty, though, because I'm afraid that I'm a bad influence on all of the young and impressionable actuarial students who visit this forum. So, all you young impressionable students, please disregard my previous posts. ;)

Actually I now find myself just "skimming" through the material -- I read a few pages and than notice that it somehow got past my brain without registering  This is not good.

I need help...I took 3 days off when I can't afford them....My dad send me some English novels....I couldn't put them down. Arrg.. How do you all get back into the groove of studying when you just want to relax. I am never going to pass..

 gg

ps...what is the least number of hours you put in (and passed) for course one.. I know I should be studying much ....MUCH more

It gets frustrating when you switch topics and it takes awhile to recall things ... things that you knew well a few weeks ago. Guess you have to rotate and review, rotate and review, rotate and review ...

Sorry GG, I got Course 1 through conversion and never took it in its current format. Maybe you could ask about it in the Exams: Courses 1-4 section.
