I am here--barely. Have problem with eyes--like they dont see too well. All those years of living dangerously are paying me back.
A few weeks ago, blood sugar shot up to 350-450 for several days. Put on concentration camp diet (Cabbage, spinach, onions and egg whites)--worked--sort of--blood sugar down, but still unstable...can't eat ANY carbos--only protein and salads.
If you have to get a disease, might want to consider one other than Type II diabetees.
It's a real b**ch. Affects every organ of your body. Doctor misdiagnosed it 6 years ago, despite major symptom and huge family history (partly genetic). Nurses know a lot about it--but general practioners have been left behind in the fast changing knowledge of this near epidemic disease--which is very complicated and highly individual.
Get very tired and eyes are monocular and unstable. Monocular means one eye ok long, but not short, the other the opposite...glasses don't work...makes hitting a tennis ball a challenge.
Going to China on Sunday, and would like to see it.
First the planes have to be up.
When TCT went down, it occurred to me that that I had to recently cancel a meeting with major reporter for lunch at the at the top--the same place Sec'y Treasury O'Neil launched his and Bush's plot to privatize SS, with seed stage funding of $150k each from many financial brokers and insurance organizations.
O-well, can never happen now---those buildings will never go up again. Who would build such targets again? Who would occupy them?
Morgan Stanley was biggest renter--with 40 floors or so. If they did not get most employees out--firm must be almost out of business. I know a few people from that firm, and couple of others in some of the other firms in the buildings.
Anyway--new forum looks good.
Good job Traci and Glenn.
Busy mass mailing out my stuff on SS to VIPs
--and a bit later on CB plans. Also, a press conferance planned later on at National Press Center.
Contingencies wants me to do article on Meyer Melnikoff--which I will probably do. Much of the strong US economy since the late 1950s can be attributable to him.
Every actuary should know what he did then.
Had several phone converstions with him--and then, to my distress, his son answered the phone and told me he just died (that day or the one before!).
Have rejected a number of requests to write for CM, but this one I will do I think.
With what I have seen the past few years, within my family and friends, serious diabetes, and now the WTC diaster, one gets the idea that life is not only short, but precious and uncertain.
So you must carpe diem. Now or never.
Tnere are few things I regret doing in my life, even the dumb ones are learning experiences.
But there are many things I regret not doing.
So I must pay attention more to them.

I think it had to do with insulting the work of a fellow actuary in a way a member of a professional organization should never do, and refusing to apologize for doing it. :duh:
Let's have some fun:
CASH BALANCE PLANS RULE! They are so much better than defined benefit plans. Opus Dei has done so many wonderful things for this world. Mormons are excellent. George W. Bush is a brilliant president.
If enough of us go on along those lines, maybe A**y L**g can be convinced he really wants to respond, and that will force him to apologize. :D

I find it offensive that you fail to praise the brilliance and moral rectitude of the actuaries that created them, and thereby have helped to get rid of the traditional DB plans which were always unethical, and should have been funded entirely with US Treasuries, never with stocks.

I heard about this late Friday night, Pancake, on a quick trip out to the Blue Ridge to rendezvous with my son. The rumor I heard was that they were going to let that slide until you kept yelling out "I-69", scaring all the little old ladies near to death. Get a grip man!

I am dating a Mormon and a Catholic (not a nun but just about). Which one of these young women am I more likely to have sex with first without marrying of course?

The Mormon, of course. Haven't you heard - Catholic girls start way too late.
