Just a reminder - Exams this session run from May 10 - May 23.

This forum is a great place to get together after exams - HOWEVER -

PLEASE be careful about what you post while the exams are still taking place! To my knowledge, we have not had a security breach in this forum before, and I hope that it never happens. But I will turn over to the SoA the IP address and whatever other information I have about anyone who does breach the security of exams in this forum.

When in doubt - WAIT - until after the 23rd.

Hi. I'm just curious. I know that the CAS and SOA shut down their discussion forums because of potential security risks, but I could never understand what type of security breach there could be.

If everyone in the east is taking exams at 9:30AM, they will get out at 1:30PM ET, which is 10:30AM PT. The people in the west will be already starting their exams when the easterners get out, so how could there be a breach?

The SOA no longer shuts down its forum during exams. Not that anyone would notice.

SOA gives exams outside North America (doesn't CAS also?), which means that some people do leave the exam room before some others start.

The CA exam taker COULD take a mid-exam potty break, and call his or her East Coast confederate, who has looked up the necessary information to answer some of the questions.

Not likely, but POSSIBLE, I suppose. :roll:

It would be a lot easier to keep notes in your pocket for viewing in the bathroom. For my first exam, I forgot to remove my Palm Pilot from my pocket (which did have exam "flash cards" on it) when I used the rest room :oops: I was sufficiently scared that I haven't forgotten since then.

No, I think that the most worrisome issue about posting answers is the international testing issue and for exams that have a break in the middle.
