View Full Version : Baseball Stadium Tour 2002!
Ultimate Anyone?

Okay, I just got back from my first visit to Miller Park in Milwaukee this past weekend, and I was pretty impressed with it. The only bad part was they didn't open the roof, even though it was nice out. (But later on I flashed back to my County Stadium visits, where it was "nice" out as long as you were in the sun, and very chilly in the shade with the breeze, and realized it was probably the right thing to keep the roof on.)
Anyways, I was wondering if we all, as a group, will manage to visit every major league park this season.
Hmmm... let's make a game out of this!
2 questions:
(1) What will be the date of the last park visited?
(2) What will be the last park visited?
Whenever someone visits a new park, s/he adds it to the list, and we'll see who can nail the two questions!
My predictions:
Last park visited: Montreal
Date reported: August 17th
So officially cross Miller Park (Milwaukee) off the list, and thus begins...

I'll go with the Florida Marlins stadium (Tropicana? or is that Tampa Bay?), and say it doesn't get listed at all.

Can we write which stadia we've visited thus far this year?
If so, please cross off Dodger Stadium. In a weird coincidence, it's where the Dodgers play.
My guess:
1. There will be a park not visited;
2. Coors Field. Where the Coors play.

ING has an office in Denver, so Coors might have a better-than-average chance (just depends if any of the actuaries frequent the RF).

Clarification: Any stadium visited in 2002 for the purpose of baseball (no tractor pulls!) counts. So Dodger Stadium has had the tour stop.
I'm guessing Coors Field will get visited... if nothing else, I hope to be out there in August.

I'll take Montreal, no visits.
Cross both Fenway and Yankee Stadium off your lists.

You can add The Trop (Tropicana Field) to the list...
I went to see Tampa vs Baltimore in the Battle for the Basement.

I've been to games in Arlington, Tx and San Diego this year. I don't think any one will go to a game in Oakland this season.
My guess on the last park visited this year is Comiskey on 9/21. Assuming that we are only talking about the regular season).
I think there will be at least one park not visited... Olympic Stadium.

Been to Wrigley and Miller Park this season.
About the only reason to go to Miller Park is to see the Stadium. The Brew Crew is horrible. And there aren't too many days up til now that you'd have wanted the roof open. I am sure it costs them like a Million $'s everytime they open it.
No one will visit Detroit, among others.

Clarify: Are we talking about the last park that anybody goes to, or the last park to get crossed off the list? I assumed we were talking about the last to be crossed off the list, but I don't think a9 took it that way.
I will take BOB as the last one visited (or the only one missed).
Guaranteed that Coors and Comiskey will be visited before long. Both by July 22 at the latest.

I took a trip to Kauffman Stadium and saw Tony Pena's managerial debut. (He lost)
Finally made my first trip to Busch Stadium this year... here's a quick recap of all we've got:
Boston - Fenway Park
Chicago - Wrigley Field
Florida - Tropicana Field
Kansas City - Kauffman Stadium
Los Angeles - Dodger Stadium
Milwaukee - Miller Park
New York - Yankee Stadium
San Diego - Qualcomm Stadium
St. Louis - Busch Stadium
Texas - The Ballpark in Arlington
Pretty slow pace we've got here... I bet we miss nine stadiums.

I've visited Shea three times so far this year. I plan on visiting one of the parks already mentioned as a possibilty for no visits, but I won't list until after I go.

 What a shock. Baseball is America's Pasttime, I'd thought we'd have at least 20 by now!

Going to Fenway on Thursday. Really glad I wasn't able to get tickets for Saturday. 2hr rain delay, temps around 40. BRRRR.
Shoot me if I don't get to Safeco while I am out there in August.

Just wanted to bring this back up... have we not visited any more stadiums since late May?
I ended up not making the trip to Houston... I was in College Station (2 hours away), and have a 15 hour drive ahead of me the following morning, so I decided that sleep was probably a higher priority. Had the pitching matchup been better, I would've likely gone.

I've got tickets at Safeco for 2002-07-30. They weren't very hard to get: Afternoon game vs. Detroit :( , but my 5 y.o. will enjoy being able to go with Papa and me.

I've been to Wrigley & Pittsburgh's PNC Park this year. You can knock PNC off the list.
I post this only because I think you might get a kick out of it --

Quick report from my excursion to the Safe: 10th inning bases loaded squeeze by PH McLemore wins 4-3 for the M's. A perfect bunt. A beautiful Park.
Also peeked into the new Seahawks Stadium. It, too, looks like a great place for football.

After Monday, you can mark off Canton's Fawcett Stadium. Bye bye baseball, the real American pasttime is starting.

Why the knock on baseball? You should be happy with the Cards getting Rolen from the team you love to hate.

Wow Elisha,
You were at the game on Saturday. I was there too. I was in the left field bleachers. I should have made it a point to ask everybody there if they were an actuary.
