The Red Sox fans have proven either troll resistant or Friday slackers. Since the Cubs fans have much thinner skin I'll start on them.
The Cubs will never see a World Series as long as the Padres are around ala 1984.

Actually the Cubs will never see a World Series as long as 40,000 people show up regardless of whether they are in first place or last place. What incentive do they have to go out and get a good team?

O.K. I was bored here on Friday afternoon. I looked at the standings over the weekend and found out Boston is having a very good year. The Yankees are right behind them and the difference appears to be rained out games for Boston. It should be a very good contest all summer long in the AL East. (barring a strike or lockout)
The Cubs are almost mathematically eliminated already even with their new pitching sensation. I don't think they lack the talent to win but they do have it a little soft on the North Side of Chicago. They're just too darn lovable to their fans. Who can resist the Crime Dog? They need to get hungry like the Pale Hose on the South Side.
My Padres are lacking in talent and are not getting much love from the fans either. They have won more games than the Cubs but they will finish in about the same position, last or second to last in their division. I'm just a little tweaked by the high number of Yankee and Cub fans here in San Diego. It's not like there isn't an almost major league team here.
