View Full Version : Recent PD Approval Times?

I am sending off my executed pd plan this week. I am wondering what others have seen RECENTLY as far as response time from the SOA and ability to get into a FAC?
I'd like to get in the August FAC, but that may be unlikely given
1) I am sending my plan off around June 14,
2) It takes 3-4 weeks to get a response,
3) July 18 is the deadline for registration, and
4) The FACs have been filling up rather quickly...
Oh well, if anyone has any recent experiences with obtaining approval or FAC entry, I'd greatly appreciate your insight.

A woman I know sent her plan in & was approved (apparently rubber stamped) in 2 days and made the FAC 2 or 3 weeks after the [posted] deadline. The deadlines must not be too strict.

Before I filed I contacted the ombudsperson (or the PD coordinator) and was told that response time is much quicker if you have 40 or more transition credits.
I had 45 credits and my paperwork was approved in about one week.
Oh Yeah

sock_man: Did you get into the August FAC?? I just sent in my executed plan a couple of days ago, and I'm wondering when I'll hear back.

I received approval in about a week of receipt.

Oh Yeah, have you heard back yet? Did you get into the CO FAC?
Oh Yeah

Haven't heard back yet. :shake:

FYI, I overnighted my executed submission on July 15, 2002, and haven't heard back yet. I had 20 transition credits. I'd like to get into the end-of-August FAC, but it ain't looking good. But then again, according to the SOA site, the August FAC still isn't closed.
Oh Yeah, let me know if you hear anything soon... :)

My plan took 3 weeks to get approval (submitted June 21, received approval on July 11).

I was a pain in their side... I called and sent an email prior to sending in my plan. Then, I sent an email asking for confirmation of receipt. I also included my phone numbers in case they needed any additional information.
So, if you haven't heard from them and it's been over 2 weeks, I'd send an email asking for confirmation that they have it and are in the process of reviewing it.

Digby,
Did you get an e-mail or anything from the SOA saying they'd received your plan the way they've been doing for exam applications the last few sittings? I sent mine in shortly after you, but I've heard nothing, even after I sent an e-mail like Sock Man asking for confirmation of receipt. I wonder how close to full the CO FAC is.

Single Mom:
No, I haven't received a peep from the SOA about my executed plan.
Although when I sent in my initial plan, they very promptly e-mailed me and told me I forgot to sign something, which was very nice of them. They could have waited for a month. :)
Although every obsessive compulsive fiber of my being wants to e-mail them for a confirmation that they received it and are reviewing it, I think I'm going to hold off. If I were a sadistic SOA-person, I'd put those who persistently e-mail me at the bottom of the review pile. :)
I will share an e-mail response I got regarding the FAC -- this may help some of you out there regarding the "deadline" column on the FAC page on the web site:
Dear [my name here]
The deadline posted for the Fellowship Admissions Course is the
deadline by which registrations for the course should be received by our
office. That being said, it is our policy to maintain registration
open, space permitting, until all available spaces have been taken or
until such time, as we must close it for logistical/planning purposes.

Well, folks, if you were hoping for Colorado and haven't gotten in, your hopes are officially dashed. Per the web site, Colorado is closed.
And, frankly, coming from a cold climate, Texas in mid-November doesn't sound all that bad. :)

Thanks for the update. See y'all in Texas (I hope!)

Did you guys get your approval letter? Mine just came in the mail along with registration information for Texas. I was surprised they sent it to my home address instead of work.

Congratulations! It must feel wonderful to know that all that's left is to attend a seminar!
I wasn't quite so lucky...I received an e-mail saying that I didn't expand sufficiently on how what I learned will be used at work. So I'll be re-submitting.
I'm a little frustrated with this, but I've learned that when dealing with the SOA, to just grin and do what they ask. It'll be over someday. :)
To give credit where it's due, the SOA did respond in a rather timely manner (for others reading along, it was 3 weeks).

Digby,
I'm sorry to hear your approval was delayed slightly, but I'm sure it will be coming soon! Mine took 2 weeks, but I had 30 conversion credits so I didn't have to do the project. I'll see you in The Woodlands.

I submitted my plan (30 credits- no project) about 2 1/2 weeks ago and haven't heard anything yet. Do you think I should hear something soon? I hope mine wasn't selected as a "detailed review" example. :o

I just noticed that the very first posting in this thread asks about response time from the DOI. I found that funny.

Hang in there a few more days. It took me exactly three weeks to hear
back, and I was in the same boat as you (30 credits).
Onward to The Woodlands!!! :D

Good one, Sock Man. Hey, Sock Man -- how many credits did you have before you did your plan? Also, did you go to CO or will you be in TX in November?

The bad news: I only had 10 credits prior to starting PD and had to do the project.
The good news: I am done.
The really good news: I am in the Colorado FAC

You only had 10 credits, had to do the project, and you still got approval in just 1 week? Nice.
Would someone for the Woodlands FAC tell me which hotel will be used? Thank you.
