I was just wondering how unethical/illegal it would be to provide a list of formulas you found helpful or neccesary in taking an exam. Kind of like a super condensed how to pass book.

I ended up having 4 pages of formulas to memorize before writing part 2.

I think if someone with a high grade on an exam would offer their formula pages to future students it would be helpful, in as much that it would let you see how much material you really don't yet.

I don't think anyone can memorize formulas and pass this test. But having a single source that is verified and discussed in this forum, could be very helpful, and since the provider will have already passed, he/she would not worry about helping those behind in the program.

Any thoughts?

We already have one available for course 4, in the downloads section of the homepage here.

So, we do not have a problem with it's "legality".

Does anyone else think this would be helpful?

It's kind of like creating our own study manual. Of course that's not illegal, immoral or fattening.

Just obtaining many of the things we might use to do that is banned by the SOA, like old exams.

Click on homepage at top of this page, Then click on downloads. (it is in the box at top left of page under the discussion forum link)

The course 4 formulas are in bottom middle of that page.

Seems like formula pages were common in 2001. I haven't seen any, recently.

Be careful with that list. Some of the definitions are outdated bc they come from a prior text no longer on the syllabus. The current text uses slightly different notation that can make some of the formulas confusing. At least that was the case when I took the exam last(?) fall.

I'm more than happy to share my notes. But I don't think that would be very useful. While I was making the notes, it helped me remember the formulas, somehow.

Make your own list of important formulae as you study. Your list will almost certainly be different than my list, because there are some formulae which are obvious enough to me that I don't need to memorize them but you'd need to memorize them, and vice versa.

The act of making a cheat sheet and/or flash cards is far more beneficial than using someone else's.
