Responsibility for Appendices on 8V?

I just got the Options, futures and Other Derivatives text. Looks fine except for the Appendices ( Proof of BS, Derivation of ITO's Lemma, to name a couple). I looked on the syllabus, and it did not say exclude appendices. Does this mean that we are responsible for this garbage. Is that why they call it part 8?
