BMI = W x 704.5 / H^2
W = weight in pounds
H = height in inches

25.1
Shouldn't this be in Surveys?
So, what do they mean? What's considered overweight? Obese?
(I've heard this measure is not as good for tall men.)

I think, IIRC, obese is over 30, overweight is over 25.
Of course, this index does not account for small/medium/large frame bodies. I'll be at ~25 when I hit my goal weight.
Now at 38.3 (4 months ago, I was 44.7!)
Congrats, elmo!!! And good luck! Don't get discouraged by any minor setbacks.

I also think that, despite claims to the contrary, this formula favors shorter people.
A taller person who is proportionally built to a shorter person would have a higher BMI. Since we are 3 dimensional, I think that the formula should have height cubed in it.
Having said that, my BMI of about 28.8 - and the range within which I thereby fall - is not merely attributable to flaws in the formula.

To one decimal place, I'm 25.1, but I haven't weighed myself in a while, so I could be a little heavier.

Another problem with the number is it does not distinguish between fat and muscle, thus muscular people will have "bad" BMI's.

To one decimal place, 31.3.
I am a little tall though. I could stand to lose a little weight. At my target weight, I'd be 28.1.

A main benchmark around 25 seems in the ballpark for me. I'm at 25.8 and could lose about 10 or so pounds, which would put me around 24.
I am coming off the 24 hour challenge and now I am sick so my BMI is artificially low.

Guess what? I lowered my cholesterol. How about you, egg?

True, of course; however, I do understand that reflection of the continuum of different frames is reasonably complex, and accept a definition that captures the other variables as good enough for many purposes, including measuring trends of large populations. (Then, a little individual judgment can be applied to get a ballpark idea for different individuals / groups that are not representative of the general population w.r.t. distribution of builds.)
OTOH, the formula could be fixed to correctly account for height relatively easily.

It's been a while since I had my cholesterol checked, but it was fine (read: I didn't have to worry about it for a while).
