I was shocked to see this just a little while ago. So very sad. Two five year old twins, and a third less than a year old.

Tragic.

Hard to believe that a 33 year old athelete can die in his sleep....at least I don't want to believe it since I'm over 33 and no athelete. I believe the article said that his dad died in his early 40's of a heart attack. So sad.

WHen I first heard that he died of natural causes, I have to admit I was skeptical...what 33yo, active, in shape athlete dies of natural causes? But then again, the pair skater Sergei (I can't remember his last name) from Russia died around the same age due to "natural causes" as well. His father had passed on in his 40's I believe and I think they said it was a heart attack with Sergei.

He passed his physical this year with flying colors. If his dad died early from a heart problem, I would think the doctors would look really hard to see if there was something wrong with his heart. His brother had dinner with him Friday night and said that Darryl appeared to be in good health.

It is a shame when someone that appears to healthy dies. And, he leaves a wife and three little children.

I just read that the likely cause of death was an 80-90% blockage of his coronary artery.

that could be...and the AJC reported that marijuana was found in his hotel room

Applause and thanks to the Cubs organization for going above and beyond the call of duty.

The marijuana thing is unclear. The medical examiner says it was found, but the cops say it wasn't. I don't know where the ME got his info.

In any event, there's no indication that, even if it existed, it had anything to do with his death.

Kile must have been in incredible physical condition to not be slowed down by all that blockage. My dad had a quadruple by-pass at age 70 and he knew something was wrong because he got winded just walking to the car. If Kile was able to pitch with that going on he was in great shape. Very strange, and sad too.

It would be hard to believe that Darryl Kile would be the 1st person in the history of the universe to die from using marijuana.

I don't know how they played their game. I guess the best way to mourn is on the field for most players.

2 years, 4 years. Something around there.

I wish I had a big pickaxe, so I could dig up some old threads.

There was also a combo thread about DK and Ann Landers dying in the same week, but I thought this one was better. I didn't even know know Ann Landers was dead.

Aeyyyyyy!
