Where's Dick?

He had been scheduled to swear in Tom Ridge Monday as the new director of homeland security; Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas stepped in to deliver the oath instead."

So, where is Cheney, and what is he up to? Is his security more important than Bush's?

My guess is that he has had another heart attack and is recovering in a hospital somewhere.

Washington may be on the lookout for a Cheney look-a-like, like in that movie "Dave", or like the Russians did when Yeltsin died.

Maybe it's all a ruse and the VP is really abroad. Perhaps in Pakistan, Saudi Arabia or (gasp)Syria negotiating. Nixon secretly visited China.

Please do not tell me that you have missed the basic chain of command here. . .

Bush must be visible in the Capital in order to placate the American public. Dick is the next in the line of succesion in the chain of command. If Bush gets nuked, he is in charge, so in order to insure that both of them aren't killed at once, Cheney has to be somewhere else.

It's true! I have no source (of course), but the guy was on his death bed about 4 years ago. To prove he was still alive, Russian media would release stock footage of him at the pool (pasty old Yeltsin in a swim-suit. ouch.), but they claimed it was current.

(By the way, if you think these are conspiracy theories, ask me if I think we really landed on the moon. Maybe another thread.) :wink:

But back to Cheney. Where is this guy? Even if he is in a secure location, you'd figure he could at least get a video taped message out. Bin Laden did, for crying out loud!

So is he on life support in some military hospital? Any ideas?
