Since Halle Berry will not be Storm in the next X-men, who are the top African-American female prospects to succeed her?

I always thought that Iman should have been the first choice to play Storm. She's the perfect fit. Although, I don't know if she can act. At the very least she wouldn't have had to fake an accent and do it badly.
But I think that's the reason Halle was casted. There aren't any other top Black female leads out there.

Do you require an actual African-American for the role, or are you using that term as a synonym for "black?"
In any case, Iman (http://www.i-iman.com/homemain_new.html)
http://myfashionlife.com/uploads/iman.jpg
is always in fashion.
And, TWH, Iman had acceptable minor roles in ST VI: The Undiscovered Country (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0102975/fullcredits), and No Way Out (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0093640/). Those are the only movies with Iman that I've watched and remember.

I'd rather not see Storm at all. X2 was perilously close to having too many characters in it, with not enough time to give all of them enough to do. Give Wolverine a spin-off movie, like Electra, so that he can have a smaller part in X3, giving more time to Colossus, Rogue, Pyro, Iceman, Dark Phoenix (obviously) and the newly introduced Gambit and Beast.

There are only a couple of "recognizable name" black actresses I can think of. I'm hoping they go find somebody that we've never heard of rather than giving the role to Jada Pinkett Smith or the like.

I don't see Storm as essential to an X-Men movie. Agreed on spinning off Wolverine and giving more time to the other characters. So far, I think the only actors who are definites for X-Men 3 are:
Daniel Cudmore .... Colossus
Alan Cumming .... Kurt Wagner/Nightcrawler
Hugh Jackman .... Logan/Wolverine
Patrick Stewart .... Charles Xavier/Prof. X

But if she's good, I think she should be Storm if they are going to include that character back into the film.
I think there is a Wolverine spinoff in the works.

OK, first off, the new Storm should be Angela Bassett.
Secondly, it would really be great if those in charge of the X-men movies actually gave the character some personality and dialogue. Storm is terribly underutlized in these movies. She was a major character in the book (in the 80s, anyway, when I read it)...she was the leader of the X-men, the most powerful (she controls the freakin' WEATHER), she had all this awesome spirituality about her, and then there was that whole thing with the Morlocks when she beat Callisto and became Chief of the Morlocks, started her punk look, and started to identify more with the freak underground than the freaks above ground. She was always tortured and fascinating, and Halle Berry's portrayal is basically the token Black chick with weather powers - wooden and forgettable (although I don't really blame Berry for this, it was beyond her control).
Perhaps you can tell that I've felt passionately about this for some time.

Iman would work, if they can't get Angela Bassett. I only have one problem with Iman, specifically that she's married to David Bowie and I'm not.

I don't think they have to look for a big name star anymore. Halle was probably chosen for the first b/c of her star power. Hugh Jackman wasn't known at the time of the first one. (He's cute btw - thought you should know) The only other known actors were Patrick Stewart & Ian McKellen, but I doubt the younger audience had a clue of McKellen was before LOTR; which came after X-men. Same with Stewart.

Didn't you ever see Strange Days? Bassett is a single-mother/martial arts expert/body-guard/armored limo driver. She's totally cut, and she totally kicks ass. The hero of the story is this little wimpy fast-talking guy who she constantly has to rescue. Great movie, definitely worth a rent.
Not to mention her kick-ass portrayal of Tina Turner.

Being a huge Angela Basset fan (she totally deserved the oscar for What's Love got to do with it) I hate to be the one to mention that she is 47 yrs old. I don't know how many casting directors in Hollywood are going to overlook that when casting roles for a comic based action flick.

I'm sure Iman is the same if not older. By Hollywood's standards they're both too old for that role, which sucks because Sean Connery is 100 and made a crappy action movie recently.

"Beast" or rather Hank McCoy was in X2 breifly...was gambit? Musta missed that one.
I'm looking forward to seeing Juggernaut....they could also show Rogue gaining Ms. Marvel's powers as a subplot of X2...which is more in-line with the plot than showing Storm with the Morlocks.
They could really throw a curve and combine the Dark-pheonix saga with the Apocalypse stuff...using him as the bad guy instead of the Inner Circle weenies.

Beast/Dr. Frasier Crane: Himself
I think this was meant to be funny (although it wasn't to me)
The Beast's real name in character is Dr. Hank McCoy - played by Kelsey Grammer. Kelsey Grammer is going to be in costume from what I gather - so the "himself" comment doesn't really apply...since that's usually only used for completely CG characters - which the beast will not be

Josh Holloway was offered the role of Gambit, but turned it down because the character was too similar to his character on "Lost" (2004). Eventually, the character was dropped from the film. (more)
No Gambit. Sawyer woulda been cool for that part.

More than a little disappointed with the prospective special effects. Watch the part in the trailer where Juggernaut is chasing that walk-through-walls-chick. The last wall he busts through, you can still see the seams in the wall where he has already made a huge hole. Shabby.

Probably. But I watched the scene at full speed, and I could tell that there was just something fake about it. When someone plows through a wall, it ought to look pretty substantial, like there was some force behind it. It wasn't until I slowed it down that it became clear why the physics didn't seem to be there. I hope ShakeNBakes is right that they are going to touch it up.

I also watched it for the first time on DVD recently, and didn't know about the post-credits secret scene. What's the scene? Or is there somewhere that I can see it online? (I'll do my own search... Websense will block most of them.)

Which suggest that there may be another movie. Prof. X has died in the comics many times before but why bring him back in the movie, especially after the way he died? I don't think it's worth bringing him back if they're not going to bring back Jean or Scott. They killed off so many characters that I don't know what his purpose would be unless it's to teach the next gen X-men....but they have a weak Storm casted so that would be horrible...not to mention no Gambit.
