NEW YORK (AP) -- Mets pitcher Mark Corey admitted he smoked marijuana shortly before he had a seizure and collapsed on a street near Shea Stadium after a game, Newsday reported Friday. ADVERTISEMENT

The New York reliever said he was to meet Friday with Mets psychiatrist Allan Lans, coordinator of the Employee Assistance Program, the newspaper reported.

``I guess I'll have to deal with those things starting tomorrow,'' Corey said.

Corey said doctors told him he'd been affected by an ``anxiety attack.''

Corey underwent tests Thursday to determine what caused the seizure following Wednesday's game. Mets general manager Steve Phillips refused to discuss any drug-related topics regarding Corey.

Mets spokesman Jay Horwitz said the team would have no comment.

I've been told that pot couldn't cause a reaction like this? Is the timing just coincidence?

You're making an assumption that the pot was 100% pure.

I know someone who smoked marijuna laced with crystal meth. Not the reaction that you'd expect from pot.

Personally, I think this story is a perfect example of why using drugs is a dumb, dumb, dumb thing.

I don't want to assume anything, that's why I asked.

Could the presence of something like meth cause a reaction like this?

Maybe it would have happened earlier if he didn't smoke pot....

He sounds unstable enough....

He probably did something else, like coke or meth, had his weed paraphernalia found in the hotel, and just made a statement that he smoked weed so that nobody would ask what else he was doing.

Sort of like Lamar Odom's disclosure to the public. He's probably hiding other (unacceptable) drug use.

I like the laced theory, though ball players who smoke often usually have the cash to get good reputable herb. More likely, he may have a medical condition.
