I have a small chunk of world com stock in my portfolio. All the quotes list it as have a zero value. Is it really worthless?

No, it's not worthless. I just read that no one in the industry can afford to buy its assets, so normal bankruptcy sell-offs of assets won't happen to a great degree.
Trouble will come if its major clients switch vendors. Then, it will be all over.
I don't want anyone whining about the lost jobs, either. Those jobs weren't supposed to exist.

My company uses them, but made an announcement implying that we'd stick with them unless we notice a serious drop off in service.

Here's hoping that the major vendors do not switch then!!!
I think that society in general is way too litigious, but this cooking the books stuff makes me wish there was someone that I could sue for fraud.

You can sue. You have a choice:
Sue the bankrupt company or sue the bankrupt auditor.

Not much choice there, unless one of them has a Viper that I could go after.
Are you looking up the right symbol? WCOM reads $0.00, but the correct WCOME shows $0.10 this morning. Not exactly a great price, but not zero.
