How to judge a meeting versus PD area.

I'm curious how related a meeting/session has to be to the choosen PD subject area. For example, if you're concentrating on interest rate derivatives and scenarios, would a general ALM meeting count ?

Or if you're concentrating on derivatives would a general ALM meeting suffice ?
